Nintendo Media | Smash Update: Samus Goes Zero Suit in Desperation

By Jorge Ba-oh 18.07.2007 11

Today's update on the Official Smash Bros. Brawl website, takes a look at Samus Aran's final smash, revealing a devastating attack coupled with some stripping for the blonde bounty hunter.

Samus's final smash sees her charging up a huge laser and unleashing it for an incredible amount of damage. Just like in previous trailers, the result of such energy causes her suit to crumble and her undergarment, Zero Suit, to appear.

That really was her last trump card. She used a weapon so powerful, it destroyed her Power Suit.

Now it's time for Zero Suit Samus to show what she can do.

It looks like you can throw the pieces of her suit that end up on the ground.

Hey. Stop that... QUIT IT! I mean it!

Be sure to stick around for further Smash updates...

Very interesting. I thought it was gonna be like Zelda/Sheik where you can change at any time. I think that is awesome and really makes Samus more appealing.

That stage looks very similar to Hyrule Castle from Melee.

So using Samus's final smash comes at a price. I just hope zero suit Samus isn't crap to play with.

Aw man! That means that you can't just play as zero suit Samus or in the power suit, if you use her final smash, that blows. I'd rather have the choice to either switch or choose between the two, maybe after the first time you do it, you can choose... at least I hope so...

I'm loving the massive beams in this game Smilie

They just look so satisfying...and I'm liking the "breaking power suit makes you zero suit as opposed to just taking off your suit" twist.

Noiceeee Smilie

That castle looks like the castle in Twilight Princess.

Mike Gee of iZINE said, "...The Verve, as he [Richard Ashcroft] promised, had become the greatest band in the world. Most of the critics agreed with him. Most paid due homage. The Verve were no longer the question mark or the clich. They were the statement and the definition."

Kirby looks stoned in that last picture. Smilie:

Anyway, I'm excited to see how this turns out. I suppose since Samus is used to fighting in her suit, she'll be weaker without it? In Zero Mission when she lost her suit she only had a stun gun to use against the pirates, so she lost a lot of power that way.

I do believe it is.

We're dealing with some smart developers here - More than likely - they understand that while she loses her suit - they need to make her not only a different fighter as a whole - but that they'll need to make it a choice as to whether or not she can be selected instead of starting with the suit and having to use the Final Smash in order to get to her.

...Hm. I wonder what Zero Suit Zamus' Final Smash looks like then.

I don't think it looks like the castle in TP at all... And the flags aren't at all Hyrule-y (Though you can't see them in these screens). Looks more Fire Emblem-y to me.

Anyway, I think this is kinda crap to be honest, I'd hate to change the way I'm playing half way though a game... The beam does look awesome though. And I assume there'll be a way to choose Zero Suit Samus from the start.

You might be able to hold A down before the match starts like you could in Mellee to transform into Sheik straight away. I pray that sheik is in this game to.

Intersting. I'm glad about it though, from the N64 game to Melee the characters pretty much played the same.
It's moves like this that really could change the fate of a battle.
