Nintendo Media | DS & Tetris Get Major Pushes in Korea

By Adam Riley 18.07.2007 8

Following the recent wave of Mario Kart and WarioWare: Touched mania that hit South Korea, the latest title to reach those shores is Tetris DS, which launched on 7th July alongside two new system colours.

Of course Nintendo knows a hit when it sees one, and since the game sold over a million in Japan the company is pushing the classic puzzler very hard in South Korea it seems, with eight different TV adverts, alongside two general DS hardware adverts. An example of one advert can be seen below:

Mike Gee of iZINE said, "...The Verve, as he [Richard Ashcroft] promised, had become the greatest band in the world. Most of the critics agreed with him. Most paid due homage. The Verve were no longer the question mark or the clich. They were the statement and the definition."

Avoid Games Like the Plague, productivity++

It's crazy that they get them there above japan!. I want Nintendo to announce the other colours for europe and the U.S, it's high time they did. I want a Sky Blue DS badly[ so cute would be my 3rd,[not going pay aussie prices].

Nintendo are doing well with the marketing there, it seems the koreans cannot get enough of the DS, quite a contrast to how they once viewed and treated japanese products, once upon a time. Nintendo have engulfed that small market, they should move onto the next un-tapped market. {LS]Smilie

You guys should follow that link and have a look on the second page there...adverts for the Hyundai Comboy and Super Comboy.

Yes, Hyundai (what we know as the Korean car company) distributed the NES and SNES there under the name 'Comboy' and 'Super Comboy'. Very funny old ads!

Comboy Smilie, that may have something to do with the past anti japanese feeling that was "ONCE" present in Korea.

I doubt they will be permitted to change the name of the Wii there, once released .Smilie{LS]
