Following the revelation of Rockstar Presents Table Tennis coming to Wii, the UK company has also now unveiled a special edition of the controversial Canis Canem Edit (or Bully as it is known in the US) for both Wii and Xbox 360! Bully: Scholarship Edition is coming Wii in time for Winter 2007.

Both versions will retain the wit and deep gameplay of the previously released PlayStation 2 title and will boast additional new content. Bully: Scholarship Edition takes place in the fictional New England boarding school of Bullworth Academy, and tells the story of 15-year-old Jimmy Hopkins as he experiences the highs and lows of adjusting to a new school. Capturing the hilarity and awkwardness of adolescence perfectly, Bully: Scholarship Edition pulls the player into its cinematic and engrossing world. Universally acclaimed upon first release, but also surrounded by much controversy, Bully: Scholarship Edition is a genre-crossing action game with a warmth and pathos that is unrivalled.

Bully received a perfect "10/10" from Electronic Gaming Monthly and 1up.com and was heralded as "a great, well-crafted action game that has one of the best senses of humour around" by IGN.com. USA Today called it "a fantastic debut title by Rockstar Vancouver." The San Francisco Chronicle wrote "Bully has no shortage of creative energy, offering an immersive boarding school experience that is imaginative, funny and filled with surprises."

    Stay tuned for further updates...

*lol* Great! You know what? It doesn't matter how good the game itself plays (I never played it so I do not intend to say how good it is), it's great to see them ported to Wii. I do not like only ports, that's what kills PSP, but ports are a bridge between ignoring a console (Gamecube) and supporting it with original titles. When publishers explore, that there is actually money in bringing games to Wii, then they will accept original ideas made by developers for Wii.

And Rockstar may be a good contend provider for Wii. I hope they begin to built original content for it. They tend to make core games...
I find your lack of faith disturbing!

It's great, because just yesterday in the Table Tennis thread I said that was the first step to Bully coming...and today it's been announced!

All we need now is something in the way of GTA...perhaps a GTA compilation or remake of Liberty City Stories...something like that.

Its good to see Rockstar are dipping their toes in the Wiipond and experimenting with how the wiimote and nunchuk work. Fingers crossed thought that they come up with something original.

I'm stretching my memory a bit here...but isn't one of the Rockstar divisions the team formerly known as DMA Design?

If I've got this right then they probably still hold the rights to Body Harvest from the N64 and Unirally/racers from the SNES. I wonder if we'll see either of those make a VC appearance in the future?

Yeah, they are one and the same.

I made a comment a while back - i think it was on a post from Grumbler about some new PS2 game - that Body Harvest was due an update.

It all depends on the "new content" for me. It is like another says great that Rockstar are developing for the Wii, but it would be nice to see something new. And with Manhunt up in the air... Rockstar need a game on Wii fast, I suppose this will have to do. It is a great game but it could have been better, hopefully they will adress the issues of the PS2 version in the Wii one.{LS]

This game was great, and it is nbice to see it coming to the Wii (even though it's a port) but calling it controversial is just shows that you didn't even play the game. This game has you more beating up bullies rather than being one (though you can be one) I always felt that this game would be great for the Wii, it has the free roaming gameplay and other great aspects GTA, sans the violence. If Rockstar makes a sequel to Bully I'd love to see it on the Wii.

I'm not too sure that this is just a port, after all, 360 is the only other console to get it. Maybe this version was made ground up for Wii and transferred to 360 with a graphics boost and traditional controls. Wouldn't make much sense financially the other way round.

I said it was controversial because it was considered to be by the mainstream Press in the US and Europe. The game was singled out a bit like Manhunt 2 has been lately. Seems Rockstar likes controversy! Smilie

And no, I've never played it as it never took my fancy...and still doesn't. But it's great to see Rockstar back on Nintendo's side. There was a big fall out between DMA and Nintendo after they had both worked so closely, and that's what has been attributed to the then-newly formed Rockstar avoiding Nintendo support as much as possible.

Its a shame most of you haven't played it, its a real good game.

They style and sort of hi-jinks (yep hi-jinks) involved is like something out of an old grange hill episode. Even the fights are sort of 'put your dukes up' just throw you fists forwards type of thing.

I played through half of it on my old PS2, b4 i traded all my stuff in and i've been tempted to pick up an old PS2 and go trough this game since.

I'm hopeing theres some extras and better visuals, but the controls remain the same (they were on the par with the excellent The Warriors, also done by Rockstar). I can't recommend picking this up for a go enough.

Parent groups didn't like the name 'Bully' as they assumed from the title that that's what you'd be doing (when in fact you're more the bullied and/or stopping bullies). To appease them, Rockstar renamed it Canis Canem Edit (Latin: Dog Eat Dog).

Definitely good news for Nintendo. I wouldn't be surprised to see a version of GTA making its way over sooner or later with these recent announcements.

Well, if developers are going to port older PS2 games to the Wii, I'd rather it be something along the lines of quality that you see in Bully. Although it may not be new, it's always good to see a strong third-party game that will help fill in the gaps for us hardcore gamers. Smilie

I've never played Bully before, but it seems interesting to me, so there's a chance I could be picking this one up.

It's an alright game, chaps. Have it on my PS2. It's nothing to wet your knickers over, however. I believe this is being offered as a poor substitute for Manhunt 2, due to said game being banned.

Bully, in a nutshell, is basically a watered-down version of GTA, set in a school (and the surrounding town), and has you doing pranks and what-have-you. You'll finish it in a week, and never touch it again. Unlike the GTAs, there's not much 'snadbox' gameplay involved. You won't be playing it just to fart about like millions of folk do on GTA.

Hmmm, interesting. I still think they should've kept the original title, though. People overreact so much. I doubt one video game has the power to start/stop people from being assholes to each other. The world just sucks, and there's no way of ever fixing that. Why can't they realize that by now?

The 360 one I can imagine getting here just fine, hell, they might be able to keep the'Bully' name this time. But the undoubtedly physical nature of the Wii edition will probably end up butting heads with Jack Thompson and co.
