Various details from the upcoming Guitar Hero have surfaced, including characters and some new tracks added to the setlist.

Score Hero attended Neversoft's Southern California offices for a playtest of the upcoming game, revealing some interesting tidbits:

I dont think it matters...what im more inclined to ask is wtf does Master Track mean exactly? Are those just the harder of the songs?

'Master Track' means that the song in the game is the actual master recording from the studio. If you recall, most of the songs from the previous GH games were covers. This is because they need the guitar and bass tracks seperate from the rest of the song, and not just the CD of it, where it's all on one track. To do this, they need to obtain the master tape from the record company.

In the past, this has seldom been done, and it was just easier to get a cover band re-record the songs. However, GH is becoming really popular now, and has enough clout to get hold of master tapes. So basically, as far as you'll be concerned, this just means more original versions of songs. Not that the covers were bad on the previous games, by any means. just that nothings ever as good as the original. Unless it's a crazy live version which is loads better, of course Smilie

Dragonforce on the game is gonna be great, I actually like Guitar Hero's list alot better than Rock Band's, hell the only songs on Rock Band I'm really like are Metallica and Black Sabbath. Next song I want on Guitar Hero:

Back in Black by AD/DC

The Will of One by The Protomen

just about any song made by Dethklok

Master Of Puppets by Metallica

Only ones I like the sound of really. Games like this almost never have decent music though, so 4 songs is good. Never actually heard the Tenacious D one but... It's Tenacious D... How could it be bad?

Pretty shite track list so far, even with Iron Maiden, Alice Cooper, ZZ Top, Gunners, Stones and KISS. Still, that's not final and there'll be heaps more songs to come.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if an AC/DC track showed up on GHIII. Add to Dr-R's list Riff Raff or For Those About to Rock (We Salute You). For Those About to Rock would probably be better suited for Rock Band, it would go off.

AC DC (high way to hell) all the way and even some led zepplin or what about Rage Against the Machine. If i was to make a list, they would be in it.

Some good tracks there, especially In Bloom by Nirvana. I will likely get GH3 as well as RB depending on how much all the kit costs, it does look like it may be expensive, with considerable additional cost to come after getting it. {LS]

personally, guitar hero 3 is looking better than rock band
guitar hero is fun because it has a simple concept,
look at rock band, there is way too much equipment, and it is way too pricey
soundtrace-wise, i also think guitar hero 3 will be better.. i have a feeling queens of the stone age go with the flow will be on both games (speculation)
in conclusion GH3 will be >>> RB

Meh, I got bored of Guitar Hero now. Was really fun for awhile, but now the concept just bores me to tears. Once you get to the point where you realize it's just a plastic stick with buttons, and you're just pressing the buttons to correspond to on-screen stuff, kind of makes it feel less cool.
