Nintendo News | Sonic Rides onto Wii

By Jorge Ba-oh 14.08.2007 15

Who ever said that Sonic and airboards don't mix? The last-generation luke-warm hit, Sonic Riders, is due a sequel on Wii and PS2 as recently speculated bringing the blue wonder and his past rivals into the racing circuit once more.

Mobius' greatest hero finds himself encountering a strange object that has gravity controlling capabilities. This results in a f ace-off between Sonic and the previous one-hit-wonder Jet the Hawk. The trick and turbulence systems return, promising an overhaul in control.

No additional details are known, but be sure to stick around for updates.

Wii Board support would have been good, shame this has come too early...{LS]

Whenever another Sonic games emerges, I go to 'meh, well... crap arriving!'. So Sega has to built up the Sonic-brand again. At least for me. So another game I will not buy. I hope they prove me all wrong. And on Wii they are kind of successful (Sonic and the Secret Rings)...

I find your lack of faith disturbing!

This could really be a decent game if they don't make it so sodding hard (then again Sega is known for annoyingly difficult Sonics)

Linkyshinks, the Wii board idea is a great one - I'd love to see support for it in some way! Wii-remote is a given, hopefully it'll be held horizontally and not pointed toward the screen like in some mini-games.

Agreed, the Wii board would definitely be a great addition to the game if implemented well.

As this IS the sequel to Sonic Riders, I honestly don't expect much from it at all. Prove me wrong Sega, prove me wrong.

Cool, looking forward to it, hopefully it'll have nicer visuals than the PS2 version, & online should be supported.

Nevermind, I find Sonic games ratter easy, especially the Rider's franchise (If it could be called a franchise); the air control when you had to "do the roll" with the joystick was crazy! Hey do you guys happen to have the Chaos Emerald on this game? I got bored trying to get it...

Internet play would rock! Just imagine 23 more riders on the same track! (a hopeless idea since this game has little characters).
I don't expect much either, Sega has to prove me wrong too Smilie

OK, I guess that was too farfetched.

I meant to say I hope it has better visuals than the PS1 version. Smilie

One of the bests, but still can't get the whole game story Smilie, hopefully the graphics will be THERE or maybe they will suck. Gameplay is not hard to imagine...

Have you completed SSR? If you haven't, the story might all comes together then. And if you have completed it, then I guess you just don't get it. ^^;

I can't see why they wouldn't use the same engine though. It looks built for the Wii and PS2 really. Isn't NiGHTs using the SSR engine too?

Smilie Maybe that's it 'cause I don't own the game...played, but not owned.

Yes they are supposed to be using the same engine, but SSR looks better than NiGHTs (now I remember, in Sonic Rider's Sega Carnival you can get through the rings where NiGHTs hangs the entire game :lolSmilie
