By Jorge Ba-oh 21.08.2007 8

A brand new franchise was recently announced by EA as a Wii exclusive under their Casual brand. "Destinies" (Game of Life), brings a load of Mii action into a funky, colourful environment.

Thanks to French website Wiiz.fr and Famitsu, we have a handful of screens to embrace:

Yes, I know this very old game from Milton Bradley, I think. Maybe it will be okay and funny, but nothing I want to play the most.
When I have 3 friends and want to play the game, I play it on tabletop, because I own this game! Somewhere.

I find your lack of faith disturbing!

This cant be the real Game of Life. Where are the mini cars?
Although they do have peg people there (thin bodies big heads)

Fuck me that looks crap.

Trying to think of a witty signature after 'Hacker-gate'...

Erm...lovely?

I guess they are going for the Mii look... Doesn't give them the excuse to produce this visual crap.

The highest res photo on that site was 400x300. Quite a bit smaller than even 480i (or 480p) which would be at least 704x480 on a standard 4x3 TV.

Given that, I suspect the actual game looks better than what we're seeing here Smilie

However, I doubt it matters to the people that will be buying and playing this..they aren't "hard core" gamers, or "core" gamers (or whatever term people use to describe themselves when they want to be seen as better than the game playing masses Smilie.

They're aiming this at kids (or parents/grandparents of kids).

If they do a decent job with the gameplay, and make it accessible to younger kids, I'll probably be buying a copy to play with my daughter (she enjoys Mario Party 8 a lot).

Oh dear god this is a Wii game?? Why is everyone moving backwards!! All the games I'm seeing are like launch quality Cube games! This is unbelievable, and the game is probably going to be crap as well so the shitty graphics really don't help.

Why is everyone complaining about the graphics? It's probably still in the beta stages or somewhere around that, and screenshots typically don't do a game justice.

I'm more concerned about the gameplay. Board games tend to be slow and luck-based, and I'm not at all excited for a virtual version. Mario Party overstayed its welcome (though it can still be surprisingly decent at times,) so hopefully there'll be some twists (like online play and interesting game modes) to help move this game up a couple notches on the excitement scale. Come to think of it, Uno did well on the 360, so this shouldn't disappoint assuming it's released at full price.
