Nintendo News | Crytek Working on Wii

A recent discussion with Crytek has revealed that the team is definitely keeping Nintendo's Wii console in the frame, working on a long-term project. Speaking to GamesIndustry, studio boss Cevat Yerli had this to say about Wii development:

"We have Wii development but it's very small, it's more like testing ideas. We don't have a project at this stage. Nintendo Wii is certainly on the radar, we will do something for Nintendo Wii - the question is when. I think some time maybe in three or four years, but nobody knows when."

3 years is long time but u can tell that if the wii was not selling as much as it is they didt have any plan to make any games for it at all

maybe it make them drop some ps3 games and think about the wii if it keep sell like it is over all this year lol

They have a dedicated PS3 team, though, as stated in the GI.biz article, so that won't be the case, sadly.

Plenty of developers have been redirecting resources from the PS3 to the Wii due to the cheaper development costs and quicker development time compared to the PS3

If the Wii continues to sell an average of 1m per month after Christmas then expect Crytek to do the same. They'll keep their dedicated PS3 team but will more than likely downscale it. Imo we should see a Wii game from Crytek early 2009. ;oD

They made the original Far Cry on PC and are bringing you Crysis on PC.

Maybe they will develop an Engine for Wii? Good thing they do something on Wii, because they are core-developers!

They had nothing to do with that dire crap.


Crysis, take a good look at the general Gaming thread to see what they are capable of. They have a custom engine called CryEngine2.0 [-FarCry used CryEngine] which is amazing, much better than Unreal 3.0 but also much more costly. Only the PS3 can run it.

This is good news they are excellent developers, very imaginative, what they will bring is likely to be very interesting.{LS]
