Site News | Children of the Night Art: Retraction

Sadly mistakes are made and people are misled at times, and the recent Children of the Night concept artwork appears to be a perfect example of that. What are we talking about? Well, below all will be explained.

There has been some confusion over the recent pieces of concept art that Cubed3 was sent recently as searching across the Internet the exact same work was found on the Digital Art website by Marek Okon. It was revealed that Marek, who has won numerous awards for his stunning art work, has done work for Nibris and some samples were shown to Nibris for internal distribution only. Therefore, the work should not have been sent to Cubed3 without the proper authorisation and certainly should have at least come with some sort of 'do not publish' warning (as has happened with other confidential correspondence in the past).

In fact, The Children of the Night is still only in the concept stages itself, it has now been revealed, with the 'project' not yet past the initial ideas stage. This also should have been made transparent.

So, to clarify: Nibris has now attempted to set the record straight by stating the three pieces of art are "old graphics from one of our award-winning artists, and that they are not a part of any Nibris project". They were shown only to give an idea of the possible direction the proposed new DS project could go in. Nibris also re-iterates that it is "a company that has a goal to create games that reflect gamers' needs" and that "Nibris will do its best to fulfill gamers' expectations." As for people eager to share their thoughts on what they have seen of Double Bloob and ROTR, or even future projects, Nibris again re-states it is "always open to all suggestions and comments from both media and gamers - if anyone should have them, please feel free to contact our company through our website."

And if you are wondering who contacted Cubed3 to clear this up, it was Piotr Babieno, President of Nibris Ltd - also known as C3 user 'nibris'.

So, what are your thoughts on all of this? Let us know in the forum below...

Are they, like, young prostitutes? Children of the Night, I mean. Sounds a bit odd.

I'm liking the inventiveness of the art anyhow.

Reminds me a bit of the recent style of Slaine from 2000AD. (heavy photoshoped/drawn over photographs).

Makes quite a nice style.

We have special effects and umm...stuff...

Love the Art of that first pic, very Giger-esqe. I wont get interested by anything until we start seeing hard evidence of the game.{LS]

I like the look...hope there's an actual game behind it somewhere...

Mongo, we'll get a closer look at this one closer to Halloween, I'm led to believe.

The art's creepy, definitely...it will be interesting to see how it translates into DS graphics, though.

Again, I've said this before but art means nothing. Well I guess it foreshadows the look of the game but...

This is the official response to that:

"Of course - our graphic artist - Marek Okon - "Omen" (designer of ROTR and Children of th Night) sometimes puts some of his on this site - it is nothing unusual. Btw, he is a winner of many contests."

And this is the real response:

"Generally I work with Nibris doing concept art for Sadness and ROTR. Those three pics Nibris used in their NDS game promo I gave to Nibris only as a sample of my gallery and in what atmosphere I would see a horror game for the NDS to look like. I don't really know why Nibris or Cubed3 released those artworks without my authorization, because they were intended for intranet only. Seems like one big shit :/

Cubed3 should write an apology soon."

Perhaps Nibris could just step up and show us something from the actual game? All i've seen is concept arts, videos, and them rumour killing.

Not seen a single actual piece of game yet. It's getting boring.

lol u guys :b so just got told off

It wasn't C3's fault >.< there was some mix up somewhere. It can't be that serious though can it?

Adam has said he didn't have any warning not to put it on the website. He was completely unaware.

Nibris: It's okay, mistakes happen. This won't damage the gamer-developer relationship that you've created with cubed3 readers. I'm sure about that. We would like to see something more concrete soon, you know, but that is only natural. You have followers like myself that have lots of faith in your work. As you may know, we like good games, fun games, so you just take your time and create something fun and you can be sure that it'll sell well.

This was not a mistake on our part, that should be re-iterated.

All C3 is guilty of is inflating Nibris' own sense of self importance haha. Nibris sent over the artwork i assume? So C3 did what any other media site would do with materials from a trusted source.

Maybe its about time NIBRIS started doing proper PR instead of trying to go the Viral route.

i imagine they are working to a tight budget, but mishaps of this sort will be all too common unless they get a grip on the information flow.

Maybe it's time Nibris proved that it's got anything like the techinical ability and financial backing to fulfill their lofty aspirations.

I used to think it was all a big joke, now I think it's a lot of people deluding themselves.

At most all I think we'll see is a sub-standard shooter, a sub-standard Super Pang clone and, at the very, very most, a sub-standard demo video of the never-will-exist Sadness.

Name me one other company that actually releases games that acts like Nibris. Deluded amateurs.

Sigh. Sorry for this hassle folks!

Basically:
PR person from developer sends out materials for us to post up, but wasn't supposed to, mistaking the information he received. He has given us a lot of exclusive content in the past, so naturally we assumed this would be the same. Tis all sorted now!

i don't think you have anything to appolgise for. you guys were only doing whats expected of you.
If Nibris expect to be taken seriously, they have to get their act together.
