Nintendo News | Valve Sees More Value in Wii Than PS3/360

By Adam Riley 28.08.2007 8

In a recent interview, Valve Software's Gabe Newell has revealed that whilst it currently has no Wii projects on the boil, it sees more value in development for Nintendo's platform than PS3 or Xbox 360. Newell states that Nintendo's system "represents big opportunities as a whole" and believes the lack of Valve support for Wii is "an obvious hole in our strategy...I think [Wii]'s more valuable. I think it's more interesting than just graphics chip - CPU combination."

Rather than these just being empty comments, though, Newell confirms that this is definitely linked with Valve's plans to support the machine.

Hope he isn't just saying that to make us Nintendo fans happy. It would genuinely be cool if they could bring something to Wii - even if it were HL1 to the VC or something (I know, compression blah blah blah...I'm not trying to say it's feasible)

Or maybe a Wii version of the Portals thing on HL2?

They could pull off a version of Left 4 Dead if they really cared by reducing that engine putting it out. Countless Wii owners would be far more impressed with it than the crap from Capcom, it would seem.{LS]

omfg if they ever bought a HL2 game to Wii... I wud crap my pants.

*lol* Yes, dojo. Only to make the big crowd happy and not stomp on them. Funny idea!

Portal would definitely be great on Wii. Not only has it great graphics style, Wiimote portaling yould be awesomely easy.
You can build great shooter/actiongames on Wii. That is always shown when someone does one on PSP(!). So no word on 'Wii too slow', please.
I think even Half life would be possible on Wii - if the engine can be ported.

I find your lack of faith disturbing!

I forgot all about Orange Box, simply must get that game along with the original HL. I only played the early levels long ago. I agree, but Portals physics would be too extreme for the Wii, in theory HL and HL2 would be possible with slight reductions here and there.{LS]

Wii is made for first person shooters. They could easily (well not easily) port HL2 to Wii. It might lack HDR and have lower resolutions and such, but they can still use bloom I guess.

I could equally say i see more value in banging blondes, but i am currently banging a brunette and having no intention of hitting a blonde.

This means nothing.

Mike Gee of iZINE said, "...The Verve, as he [Richard Ashcroft] promised, had become the greatest band in the world. Most of the critics agreed with him. Most paid due homage. The Verve were no longer the question mark or the clich. They were the statement and the definition."

You know what that means? "Shit we're missing out on the bucks! Shit out a game quick!".

Or they could port Half-Life 2 with Prime 3 controls and make us happy but that's never going to happen.
