Lovely, that's the best out of the lot!. I have to get a promotional poster of it as soon as possible.{LS]

It is the U.S one I reckon, but I doubt the european box art will be different than this.

Wow I think I may have actually understood that post after several readings Smilie. Yeah I agree, the U.S consumers are slightly dumb is what your saying therefore the covers has to give a good impression of what the game is about? Smilie

I just think it looks better as a composition, this one is well balanced compared to the others. I like the introduction of the fat shine star but am surprised Princess Rosetta is not on the cover at all.{LS]

I agree with you, iCAME. It really isn't that special, and it uses the tried and tested "character going in a different direction to the scenery, showing off the depth of field"

Or something like that. Anyone who has seen the Super Monkey Ball Banana Blitz boxart will know what I mean.

"Depth of field" is a term for a technique in computer graphics. I think you mean it's suggesting vastness with the speedline coming from the blackness of space, or something like that Smilie. It's classic and cool imo.{LS]

That's the one. I won't pretend I know what I'm talking about half the time Smilie

You get what I mean though, right?

Looking good, but it's expected they wouldn't deviate from the standard box-art model. Loving the background scenery though, very nice. Would like to see some original artwork though - like Mario's head in the shape of a moon or something.

Yeah I agree, the U.S consumers are slightly dumb

..Gosh, thanks for that entirely fair and non discriminatory statement. I think you'll probably find the average consumer anywhere is pretty dumb, and granted, adverts are definitely less subtle there, but you've got no right to be making fairly offensive statements like that.

There was a blatant smiley to suggest I was joking to Jump_B who I am well aware is from the U.S. Smilie

American consumers are not dumb, just that the advertising of some things is very "dumbed down" in comparison to the advertising you see in other countries.

The reason for this may be that the average person in middle america is bombarded with advertising far more than we in most european countries and the rest of the world are. As a consequence advertising for most products there has to make a quick impressionable and straight to the point, with limited time, far less time we have in europe to digest advertising.

In respect to videogame boxes I think jump_b is right, it does seem as though our ones can be quite minimal in contrast to yours in the U.S.{LS]

@ Dojo, That's a good example, that path in the Monkey Ball one is giving you the same illusion of perspective that the speedline in the Mario Galaxy one gives. It draws the eye along the same path giving you that illusion of space.

Hints of the original in the Galaxy box. He should be looking directly at YOU though. Like he is in 64. Kind of... I'll just go now.

I wouldn't call that offensive - a slight dig at best. It is well known that American's have been dumbed down when it comes to advertising. The advertisers don't give their audience the credit it deserves (and in some cases, they are right).

To show you how much Americans are dumbed down, then you need not go past the great movie - The Madness of King George III:
This is the American poster:

There was no English poster to be found on the net, but on it was the extra bit - "III". The reason why England and Australia got the "III" added was because we were deemed to know what the "III" stood for.

However, in America, and no, this isn't a myth, it was deemed by the distributers that leaving the "III" on it would put Americans off seeing it as they hadn't seen "I" & "II". I kid you not. I would suggest that any American who wanted to see this film was already smart enough to know what "III" meant.

The moral to this story backs up LS. The average American is so jaded, that they are continuosly dumbed down to. Does it mean that they are dumb - no moreso than anywhere else, despite what Maury and Jerry will teach you. But it is a reasonable point to make that the average American consumer is dumb - because of a ong process of dumbing down to them. I say the real dumb ones are the ececutives and advertising agencies.

Temporarily banned until further notice.

Well Mario doesn't really need a deep and pretentious boxart, as the game doesn't pretend to be. Its simple and is just about fun.

US ff12

Mike Gee of iZINE said, "...The Verve, as he [Richard Ashcroft] promised, had become the greatest band in the world. Most of the critics agreed with him. Most paid due homage. The Verve were no longer the question mark or the clich. They were the statement and the definition."

Good example Oldschool, but GR knows I was joking he is just pointing it out to make sure for the benefit of the moronic "others".{LS]

This is the European boxart for FFXII. It is very beautiful.

But don't be down for Americans be considered dumb. German advertisers are not that good either. If you take Star Trek TNG for example, German translated titles where so dumb and flat and often-times wrong, that it was an utter shame to actually use them in talking. Every Trekker uses US-original-titles.
Take 'Relics', where Scotty is stranded on the Dyson's Sphere. In German, this wonderful title was changed to Visit from old Enterprise which is utterly nonsense.
Same with most movie titles. I won't go into detail here, because then I'm enraging myself and got to kill someone.

But considering game box art, it seems europe often gets better looking ones.

I find your lack of faith disturbing!

Jump_button ... worst post ever, get English training or something.

Abso-freak'n-lutely!!! lol Smilie Smilie AWESOME!

Chance favors the prepared mind.

oh man the box art is really good

Bam-Bam

Pretty sweet box, I like it.

Also, quit dissing Americans you dumb fucks.

As an American, it is offensive to me to see things said like this. I understand that this is a majority British website, but that doesn't make it excusable. Perhaps box-arts are different, but we still don't need any "digs" about American intelligence. Myself, and obviously some other members do find it a bit irritating.

Further more, Killer_13, if you are offended by what someone says, you should send a mod alert instead of insulting other people yourself.
