Nintendo Wii Media | Smash Update: Fire Emblem Female Assists

Posted by By (jb) 17 Number of reads 32348

Today's update on the Smash Bros. Dojo reveals a new assist trophy, a young girl making a guest appearance from the Game Boy Advance game Fire Emblem.

A young girl from the Sacae plains, Lyn (whose true name is Lyndis) makes a guest appearance from the Game Boy Advance game Fire Emblem.

Lyn descends gallantly. She looks tough. She wields what looks like a classical Japanese sword, so she's similar to Samurai Goroh, but her sword strokes are a little different from his reckless slashing.

You'll get helplessly cut down if you suffer a solid blow from this blade. If you call her forth as your ally, grab your enemies to make them easier for her to hit.

Be sure to stick around for your daily Smash update...

Shame she's just an assist trophy...

What a shame. Smilie

At least she appeared in some form.

Awesome! I didn't think she was different enough to warrant a new character, but its great to see her in assist form.

just think... if Lyn (and Goroh from earlier) is only an assist trophy, imagine how we'll be drooling over the real characters...

Well the thing I am liking about the actual characters is that they all have distinct movesets, they are very original. I am just worried there might not be that many.

I fully agree with you there. There are much better characters still missing, I'd rather have than Lyn.

Good to see her in the game though. Smilie

I like how they suggest you should hold a player so Lyn can hit them. I wonder if you will be invulnerable to your assist trophy like you were invulnerable to your pokemon in Melee?

Well ign came close in their speculation lol.

WoW, I wish Intelligent Systems would make all Fire Emblem characters like Sakurai and his team at Sora have done with Lyndis and Ike. Maybe more people would give Fire Emblem a chance. It's a really good under appreciated franchise.

She shoulda been playable really, she's a pretty important FE character isn't she? & even after all this talk that there aren't enough playable girls in Smash Bros, it was such a good opportunity, now I can't think of any other girls suited to the job.

So are we gonna be left with just 3 girls to play as again?

Personally I think Lyn would have been a perfect choice for a new character. We now appear to have Ike instead of Marth/Roy as a quite slow, powerful sword wielder. Lyn could have been a great quick and slightly less powerful sword-user, with a completely different moveset. I saw her being more like Meta-Knight, with his short, quick slashes...

Ah well... At least we've got summore eye-candy ;3

The Eye candy would have been even nicer if she was playable! She'd prolly have independant breast physics & everything! Like Samus!

Seriously though, I think Lyn would have been possibly the next best girl to add to the Smash Bros series. This really implies to me that there will be no new playable girls at all.

they're probably holding out for a girl from the new fire emblem...on wii, dont you think?

And I still think Marth is returning, mark my words.

I don't >.<

Were FEs < 7 ever released in the west at all? I mean, Earthbound was released in US, so that's good enough reason for Ness to be in Smash Bros, but Marth & Roy have only ever been seen in Japan only games, & may never make it out.

EDIT: Does anyone think Eliwood will replace Roy?
