Gamebryo revealed today an interesting move to bring the high flying Gamebryo engine to the Wii as a part of Nintendo's Third Party Tools program.

A modified version of the engine, used for Bethesda Softworks' Oblivion along with the upcoming Fallout 3, will be available for the Wii, allowing developers "caught off guard" with the machine's success to jump onboard, according to Emergent CEO Geoffrey Selzer.

More than 200 games use the engine, according to Emergent.

Thanks to Next Generation and C3 reader patjuan32.

I wonder what the benefits of this particular engine is, exactly?

Anyway, I hope this is a step in getting more third parties to create proper, fully-fledged titles for Wii instead of continuously making cheap PS2 ports or what I call "Casual Cash-ins" Smilie

Some of the best news the Wii has had in ages Smilie

Fallout 3 would be great, along with all the other of the best titles that use this engine.

This really is fantastic news, I just hope similar replications of other engines continue also because once that happens the stock of titles will begin to surge with developers wanting to take advantage.{LS]

I think Gamebryo has some exceptional easy-to-use tools connected to it. Namely leveleditors and questeditors, something similar to what you use when you build modules for Oblivion.
I find your lack of faith disturbing!

Fallout 3 would look shit on the Wii. As would Oblivion.

I was waiting for someone to associate this with 'Fallout 3 on Wii'. Linkyshinks, what a star.

    Comedy gold.

Does this mean Playboy: The Mansion for Wii?
It's going to be shit and you jolly well know it.

There's now even fewer reasons why Wii games should look like crap. The tools are there, people. Stop being lazy and use them.
