Nintendo Wii Media | Smash Update: Tourney Mode

By Jorge Ba-oh 28.09.2007 8

The final update this week on the Smash Bros. Dojo confirms the ability to host tournaments in the upcoming Wii outing with computers and humans going head to head for the almighty Smash trophy.

What is Tourney mode?!

This is a mode that determines which player stands victorious on the summit after winning many battles against many foes!

I won't go into much detail, so just try it out for yourself. Take advantage of its robust tourney-generating functions!

Of course, if you don't have a large number of friends, you may not have much need for a tourney.

Still, we're working seriously to make this mode fun for even those people.

Actually, you can also play this by yourself against computer opponents, so try it out if you're so inclined.

Be sure to stick around for updates...

Looks almost exactly like the one in melee... which was a bit crappy. Hopefully we can play these online.

It will never happen, it's Nintendo.

Hate to say it, but I agree. Online tournies would be great but I doubt they'll do it...

Indeed, I was reading along, hoping for an online mention.

I'm still hopeful, but Nintendo likes to screw things up so we'll see.

Nintendo needs to get with the patches. Any game can get upgrades, especially WiiConnect24/WiFi games. Nintendo have no excuse not to include features like Tournies & Voice Chat if the demand is right. They can no longer say "We were going to include it but we ran out of time".

yes the old "we ran out of time" line is no longer a good excuse. Im hoping they include online touneys but seeing as Nintendo is so slow when it comes to online we may never get not so amazing features likes that.

Doesn't it use the friend code, hense the 'large number of friends' quote. Therefore having an online mode.
