Stay tuned for more updates...

Original Story - Etrian Odyssey has yet to grace European shores yet, but details of its sequel from Atlus have now been revealed in the latest issue of Famitsu magazine. Entitled Sekaiju no Meikyu 2 - The Royal Grail, the game will be hitting the DS, again courtesy of Atlus, this Winter in Japan.

Below are details from neo2046 of NeoGAF:

  • New classes: Doctor Magnus and Gunner. The Magnus is like a combat mage, which has healing properties as well as offence boosts from studying the body. The Gunner can use various elemental bullets.
  • There are now pets that follow and aid you in the adventure.
  • Existing jobs will have brand new artwork.
  • Battles will be much more visually exciting.
  • FOEs will have new rules and new types.
  • The director is Komori-san (the writer of the first game, as well as Devil Summoner on PS2 and Princess Crown), and she says they decided to make a sequel when they looked into the template and realised they could improve the balance of the calculations and skills, as well as brushing up the existing formula.
  • There are two location settings this time: the Sekaiju as well as the flying castle.
  • You can create a total of 30 charcters this time.
  • They have added a quicksave function for saving in the middle of dungeons.
  • For map creation, there are now 3 different colours you can use.
  • There are also more icons and arrows to use.
  • When buying equipment now, the character status is displayed so you can see how effective they are before buying.

I love the first one and I still have to finish it, but this will be a day 1 purchase for me if it gets localized at least in USA Smilie.
Can't wait to see the first screens

Well, I thought Luminous Arc looked good until I saw it was a strategy RPG, so... is this just a regular RPG? Maybe get it O_O

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaah, this one is the heavy RPG with lotsa statistics and great graphics! I want to play the first one, but it isn't released in Europe, yet...

I find your lack of faith disturbing!

Yes, it's a regular First Person RPG. You can customize your characters when they level up (though you can only spend points to learn or upgrade abilities, no control over base stats like Attack and Defense at least in the first game) you can decide how your party will be formed and how many characters it will have (1-5).
The first one is REALLY hardcore, there's no way you can go on if you mess with the abilities or if you have an unbalanced party (like all warriors and no healer). 9 classes to pick from (you can't change it once you create the character) and a maximum total of 15 characters to create and choose to form your party when you are in the city. And the way the vendors work is great (collect materials, sell them to vendors, unlock new items to buy).
If you crave for dungeon crawling RPGs this game is great Smilie
