Nintendo News | Camelot Wants to do New Golden Sun & Shining Force

By Adam Riley 12.10.2007 10

Many people have been dying to get their hands on a third iteration of the Golden Sun RPG series, as well as a true Shining Force update from Japanese developer Camelot, but nothing has so far appeared. That could be about to change, though. In a recent interview with Game Informer, the Takahashi brothers, owners of the company, spoke out on various subjects. Below are some choice quotes from the in-depth chat:

GI: My understanding was Camelot was a Nintendo second-party developer. Was that the case, and have you severed ties with Nintendo or do you still have plans to work with Nintendo in the future?

Hiroyuki Takahashi: We think we can have both relationships

Brilliant news indeed. After the horrible hoax at E3, I was beginning to think it was impossible! But it looks like a new Golden Sun will indeed be on the way in the unseeable future Smilie

A 3rd Golden Sun would be awesome. Wouldn't mind another Shining Force either.

Would be nice if they were both on the Wii and DS with some sort of link capability.

What's he on about with the combining?? If they do decide to do it (oh please! please please!) they better not make me buy two versions...

Golden Sun deserves to be made, with care and time.

Its nice to know that they know, and its also nice to know nintendo asked!

Things aren't sounding too bad down at Camelot towers.

It's going to be shit and you jolly well know it.

Perhaps he meant being able to download the original GBA games from a Wii version to the DS? That'd be quite cool...But it could also just mean transfer things over to the Wii game from the GBA duo, just like the transfer you do between GS1 and GS2.

I love the japanese they're so cultural and clever, and the women my god, back to the point i would absolutely love another golden sun rpg on the DS. I wouldn't mind it coming to the wii, i just have fears if it does that it would be rubbish, like pokemon games are on consoles but they rock on handhelds. I really cant wait for them to make another generation of Golden Sun, because it truly was the best games available on the GBA. And the GBA had LTTP! And Super Mario World, Thats how highly i regard this series.

Remember that Camelot has already done many a home console RPG (like Shining Force, for instance), so I doubt very much it'd take GS in the wrong direction like the Pok
