...Nintendo Watches Zelda Sail Up the Chart

Your weekly UK Chart Round-Up brought to you by stat-man jesusraz. Remember, the images here do not reflect actual sales!

Charts get mixed up considerably

Despite the massive impact of Halo 3 a few weeks ago, it has gradually been pushed down the chart by other titles, such as FIFA 08. Now Nintendo has unleashed its heavily-promoted Zelda adventure on DS, has it been shoved down further? Well, thanks to a strong performance from the portable title, along with Sega's Football Manager, which is so strong is actually accounts for 38% of ALL PC games this week! The Sports Interactive-developed game continues where the past two iterations left off, selling within 1,000-2,000 copies of the 2006 and 2007 versions' first weeks. EA gets another strong hit with Half-Life 2: The Orange Box, which saw 77% of its sales on the Xbox 360 side rather than PC. But enough statistics...on with the chart run-down!

Nintendo watches Zelda fly...

Due to the high amount of activity this week, Nintendo's budget presence in the Top 10 of the All Prices Top 40 is completely obliterated, as Big Brain on Wii slips to No.12, Cooking Mama can only nudge back up two to No.13 and Wii Play collapses, dropping six to No.15. Even the Brain Training duo suffer this time round, with the original down seven to No.17 and its younger brother sliding six to No.19, its lowest ever placing. There is a new entry, though, with Take 2's 'Carnival: Funfair Games' on Wii d

Football games sell so stupidly well... it's not even funny.

So, does anyone think Mario Galaxy or Smash Bros will be able to get their voices heard in this sport obsessed country? Smilie

Zelda got beaten by fifa?...what has this world come to Smilie

When it comes to the charts, Fifa ALWAYS wins. Anything football ALWAYS wins.

So, don't worry, it's not the world, just Britain. Those crazy crazy British Smilie (I'm allowed to say that since I'm British. Smilie)

Hopefully Brawl's release won't conflict with Need for Speed: Here We Go Again, or whatever they decide to call it.

Wait, is that out this year?!

I'm glad i'm half from land of the sane people (that being japan...well as far as console sales go...) Smilie

That cosplay looks like Arale from Dr Slump. Smilie

& yeah, Japan have GOOD taste in games, which is why the 360 is selling so badly! Smilie *runs away*

Metroid gets released next week, and it faces stiff competition in;
Halo, FIFA, Half-Life, Zelda, Project Gotham oh and PES.

God help Samus.

Mike Gee of iZINE said, "...The Verve, as he [Richard Ashcroft] promised, had become the greatest band in the world. Most of the critics agreed with him. Most paid due homage. The Verve were no longer the question mark or the clich. They were the statement and the definition."

Bloody hell that is a tall order. I hope it does well despite. Nintendo sent out another blatant Wii Message advert for the game yesterday.

I didn't get that advert yesterday, I got it about a week back.

For some reason I don't think Samus will do that well. Smilie I'd love to be wrong.

Everyone get out there & buy it! Smilie

Wii messages should really have a date on them Smilie.

Hey I saw the U.K advert the other day and it is miles better than the crappy one they had in the U.S. This one features a sole guy who looks like a "Hardcore Gamer" (in Nintendo eyes), and is in stark contrast to the family sitting on the sofa in the U.S one. Nintendo really F ed up there with that advert in the U.S.

A hardcore gamer? Like the guy all alone in a really expensive house playing New Super Mario Bros, wearing plain unbranded bright coloured clothing & saying "nonononoonono.... YEAHHHH!" With someone else's voice? Smilie
