Japanese Sales | Nintendo Solidifies Position at the Top

With the recent surge in Sony's PlayStation Portable sales, as well as the continuing drop in Wii sales, it looked like things were becoming rather shaky for Nintendo over in Japan. However, everything appears to be back to normal again this week as the DS sits atop the chart.

"Same goes for Zack & Wiki"

True, despite its amazing reviews and it being an original 3rd party game that makes good use of the Wii, I bet 3/4 of the people complaining about 3rd party support dont buy it.

Actualy I bet the majority of people posting here dont buy it either.
-sigh-

Yeah, very disappointing sales for Z-Dub (aka Zack and Wiki). It probably won't reach the 30,000 mark, or even 20,000, unless it proves to have some looong legs. And Ghost Squad too... :'(

....Oh and anyone know if its compatible with the Mario dance mat? It would be a bummer if it wasn't.

And final fantasy as always....just adding the words "final fantasy" on to a title makes them sell like crazy...don't people get overloaded with ff?....A ff games comes out at least once every two months....

DDR's been out in the US for a month as well...did quite well as well. Oh, and yes it's compatible with the Mario mat.

Looks like it did really badly in Japan, especially considering it's Japan.. & well.... to quote a very wise saying:

"Do you think they'll have any DDR here too?"

I am puzzled, why do you think that is?, you would think it has everything going for it. I am not aware of how well Famitsu rated it but I imagine it got a good score from them.

This is really not the type of game I would have thought would do well in western territories, and badly in Japan. Smilie

Famitsu gave Zack & Wiki 9/9/8/7 (33/40), but (just like Ghost Squad), the game has not been very well promoted in Japan. In fact, it's not being promoted very well in the US either, with most stores not even stocking it! The only loud shouting about the game was coming from IGN and other websites that jumped on the bandwagon.

Hopefully it'll fare better in Europe, with Nintendo supporting the game here. Also, the fact that Europe is a strong market for adventure games like this should help...

For those wondering, part of the reason the new DS Winning Eleven is likely doing so average is because its box art makes it look like a kids game:
