Nintendo News | NiGHTS Borrows Weather Channel

Sega have revealed that the upcoming NiGHTS outing on Wii will be using data from the Weather channel to change the behavior characteristics of A-Life critters.

Any real weather and season characteristics will be used in the A-Life mode, so if it's pissing down outside, your critters will experience a dose of rain for example.

It was in the original NiGHTS, stands for Artificial Life. Basically, it was Sonic Adventure's Chao Garden before Sonic Adventure.

Nice idea - at least the main game graphics look better than this, though.

Yeah nice feature and one that could be used to better use in other games. The graphics of the main game do indeed look far better, although it's well documented that the game drops it's frame rate quite low at times.

Yes, Main graphics with the Jester(?) itself looks much better, don't be too taken aback. It looks quite well in fact. This may only be a gaming mode outside the dreams. I still have to experience Nights to say for sure.

What on earth is going on in those screens and where?

The 'Peans are supposed to live in the actual levels and be a subtle background distraction...(and clog up your backup memory)

Fair play if they're expanding it, but running around as one of the shit human characters in a completely flat plain is going to be shit whatever the case.

Not part of the singular player game, NiGHTS features a section called "My Dream" that features artificial life called A-LIFE. It's part of the dream world, and it seems to be an area where players can chill and enjoy mini-games. With not so hot graphics.

Why do Wii games have to have mini-games? Why can't they just focus on making the game people actually want better? The original was buggy enough!

The weather thing is quite cool, in practice. In the sense that they can do that. But on the other hand, the weather is shite, so it's not so good. Nor do I want it.

Would have been put to better use in a racing game. Could make Cruis'n a perfect ten! Smilie

Nice use of Channel, but bad graphics. I wish they could use the Channel in less tacky ways.

For a minute there I was going to wonder if the Chao Garden could possibly make a comeback... if this game is successful with A-Life, then could Chao Garden return? Smilie
