By Adam Riley 09.11.2007 11

With Super Mario Galaxy just one week away from hitting Europe, Nintendo UK has confirmed just how extensive the advertising campaign for the flagship Wii title is going to be.

"It is certainly the biggest marketing campaign for a Mario title that I've ever been involved with. And having played it at some length now

I still havn't seen any adverts, & I remember when Mario Sunshine came out, they were even advertising it on nearly every Phonebox. Will they do something like that again? To be honest the current GAME presence isn't too big.

Great, I was concerned. They should put out some of the longer ads before launch also I think. As long as it's long and sustained all the way up to Christmas it will have the desired effect in sales.

I am looking forward to next week greatly, have not been this excited since SMB3 Smilie.

Awsome news they should of done the same with Metroid Prime (arghhhh!)...
Yeah I've seen about 6 teaser clips so far... in 3 different channels! Tehy r de seks!!

I see all these people insulting the Nintendo corporation because of the lack of mature content. Yet there is something about Nintendo (at least their games) that strikes a certain unadulterated feeling of joy!!!  Pokemon Y - 1048-9263-5562

Considering the sales numbers in Japan (251.000 in its first week) it may be important to start a big ad campaign.

I find your lack of faith disturbing!

Well hopefully Nintendo won't pay anyone to dye their facial hair againSmilie

...Awesomely bad and put a lot of punters off buying Super Mario Sunshine.

Anyway, hopefully Nintendo will FINALLY be able to grab that elusive No.1 All Format chart position in the UK with Galaxy. What other big games hit on 16th November? Anyone know off-hand?

Except for one three second add, I've seen nothing in the way of advertising around here.

LEGO Star Wars hits Wii & DS then, but I can't think of anything else. Still, can Galaxy get past those bloody footbal games?

There is Assassins Creed and Crysis released on the same day. That's some tough competition, with AC being multi format, and more attainable to the masses, it's the main contender,.. before Mass Effect. CoD 4 will also have prolonged sales.

I've seen one of the SMG adverts already, and that's one more advert than I saw for Metroid Prime, so it's looking good.

Oooo... that is though competition. I would say Crysis as a high end PC game has its niche which probably won't affect Galaxy, but I agree that Assassin's Creed could cause difficulties, although that depends on its critical reception, too.

However, I think Galaxy will probably enjoy prolonged sales too, Metroid fizzles out quickly after a couple of weeks because its got its core fanbase only, SMG will continue strong, I think.
