Following a Gamefly listing discovered earlier, Sega has now gone on record to confirm the existence of The House of the Dead for Wii. In 'The House of the Dead 2 & 3 Return', players will be able to play both versions of the game, battling the relentless attack of bloodthirsty zombies with steady aim and a quick trigger finger. Utilising the new Wii Zapper or the Wii Remote and Nunchuk, players will experience branching storylines with over six game modes including Arcade Mode and Time Attack modes that will test their shooting skills. 'The House of the Dead 2 & 3 Return' features an engaging single-player campaign, plus a co-op multiplayer mode for up to two players for countless hours of zombie shooting action.

"The House of the Dead franchise has been revamped for today's gamer looking for fast-paced shooting action on the Wii. Utilising the new Wii Zapper, the player can get the renowned light gun experience in their own home."
    - commented Gary Knight, Marketing Director of SEGA Europe.

The House of the Dead is famous for its heart-pounding pace and the great visual detail of the vast armies of unique enemies. Blasting through legions of grotesque zombies and mutated monsters, players eventually face-off against colossal boss creatures that will test the accuracy and skill of every Wii gamer.

'The House of the Dead 2 & 3 Return' will be available for the Wii home video game system from Nintendo in Spring 2008.

    Stick around for further updates...

Well it is a light gun so should work quite well...so i guess its now a competition between this and resident evil:UC (and ghost squad but thats not fighting zombies)

I'm guessing Sega are still weary to bring something totally ground-up to the Wii that isn't a guaranteed seller (e.g. Sonic, Mario & Sonic).

Hopefully we'll get some decent enhancements if this is real - March seems pretty far off if it's a bog standard port.

A compilation of the first few, like they had on the Xbox (I think) wouldn't be that bad. It would be great if they made an entirely new game just for the Wii.

Great!, and you know what UC is supposed to be a good game also according to those at IGN Wii. Hopefully they will not have a shake the remote function to reload, they should stick with tradition and have a point away from the screen mechanic like all light gun games of old.

If you listen to the latest podcast they say good things, it may well not be fantastic but it seems to be a decent game despite what some have been saying, including me.

I hope they update graphics of this game. I played it till my fingers bled (Why do I have to sing Summer Of '69?), and I can't hear 'I don't wanna die!' anymore... *g*

Anyway, it was a worthwhile game. It was a lot of fun in the arcade hall with its big screen and the slightly of course lightguns. It was always shouting 're-re-re-re-relooooooad!' at me.

Do you have to remake a game from 200 or earlier? I think UC is better then these, no?

I hate shooting at animals at UC, by the way. These Dogs are not my thing. I hate it. Let there be zombies. And no, I do not like shooting at undead dogs either. The thing, that designers start including animals as enemies I do not like!

maybe then we'll see that Part 2 mostly reuses part1's models, like the boss before the emperor and such.

I just read, that HOD will use Wii Zapper. I wonder how this plays.

Apparantly you can reload with the nunchuk, I think it's ment to be a feature when using the zapper but considering the zapper does fuck all suppose you can just use an nunchuk on it's own.

I think there's a problem with HotD1 in that it would require a lot more work to bring it to Wii. That's what I've heard, anyway. It's far simpler for Sega to shove 2 and 3 out instead. Perhaps now we'll get Virtua Cop from Sega as well...and maybe even Namco's Time Crisis!

I am really really excited nao.

Though why HotD 2? It looks pants by todays standards, and it has the worst voice-acting I've heard.

Maybe I'm just sick of it because Typing of the Dead has given me Carpal Tunnel.

Wow. An old Dreamcast light-gun game, and an old Xbox one. Wow. This should sit proudly alongside the mediocrity that is Ghost Squad. I hope you Wii owners know that SEGA is laughing at you when you spend your money on this shit. They're raking in the dosh with their little last-gen-and-beyond (HOTD2 is ten years old!) arcade pap.

HOTD2 is a good light-gun game. 3 was shit. Really really shit. So really the only good thing you're getting is HOTD2. Which I played the tits off of at the turn of the century. Wouldn't play it again now. And if I did suddenly get the urge to, I'd pick it up for
