Nintendo Wii Media | Smash Update: Widescreen Support

By Jorge Ba-oh 27.11.2007 9

Nintendo continues the how-to tutorials on today's first half of the Smash Bros. Brawl updates by detailing the game's support for widescreen.

This title, like most Wii titles, supports widescreen display. In other words, you can enjoy the game with full display across televisions with wider screens, too.

This is standard display.

This is widescreen display.

The border off the screen that cues a KO is the same for both. Choose the display mode that matches the TV you have at home.

But some people may not know if they have a normal TV or widescreen TV, and may not even know what difficult terminology like 4:3 or 16:9 means. Right? Who knows all that stuff?

So, all you have to do is check the circle that appears in the background on the screen where you choose your display setting.

This is the correct standard ratio.

This is the correct widescreen ratio.

The two shots above... Wrong.

Being able to just look at the image and know if you got your settings right is pretty huge, huh?

Ah, yes. If your television has screen-size settings called Wide and Full, set your TV to Full. If you choose Wide, there is a chance the image may be shifted toward the center of the screen.

Be sure to stick with C3 for updates...

This makes it the first Wii game to use Widescreen!..... wait...

They really are putting everything in these updates aren't they? Next thing they'll be updating by telling us how to change the music volume. Smilie

Nah, next one will be how to press the A button.Smilie

Pretty obvious stuff. If they didn't include this than...

Standard, it should be expected with all such games that would benefit from it. This is not the first Wii game to support Widescreen.

"Press A button to press A button!"

I find your lack of faith disturbing!

I know these updates are pretty obvious but they have to put something on the site!

I see all these people insulting the Nintendo corporation because of the lack of mature content. Yet there is something about Nintendo (at least their games) that strikes a certain unadulterated feeling of joy!!!  Pokemon Y - 1048-9263-5562

Next week, STEREO SOUND!

It's going to be shit and you jolly well know it.

I think the delay screwed them over. Yeah next week they're going to announce Stereo sound or something. Running out of stuff aye? Well then announce new damn characters!

I really think they may have only planned to announce them up to Dedede, and then wanted to stop until release, which would be in less than a week had it not been delayed (can you believe it?!)

Anyway, this was a brilliant update, right up there with my most anticipated updates, along with how to press tha A button and how to choose the game from the Wii Menu. Smilie
