Nintendo have filed various new patents with some interesting results - from Eternal Chronicle to Pokemon Bokuj
Balance Mii? Sounds like a new Channel or something... or maybe a budget game?
Anyway, a few Mii things in there, wonder what they're about? Maybe a few budget games, actually now I think about it, highly likely WiiWare games.
2 Dr. Mario games? That's new, then there's the DS remake of Kirby Super Star, & I'm not sure what Eternal Chronicle is.
Dunno why I came in here hoping to see "Pikmin 3"
I think everyones going to come here hoping to find Pikmin 3 tbh. If only Nintendo would get round to doing something about it.
2 Dr. Mario games wonder if ones for Wii and the other for DS, who knows...
You mean they haven't got the Pikmin 3 patent already?
Eternal Chronicle sounds like an RPG in-the-making to me.
Surely trademarks rather than patents?
Eternal Chronicle?!?!?! Oh...my...god!! That couldn't possibly be a sequel to Eternal Darkness?? Could it?!?!

Hell, I never thought of that!
Wouldn't Silicon Knights need the patent though?
you know what tiamat could be right.
I wont dare get my hopes up.
"I think everyones going to come here hoping to find Pikmin 3 "
I dont think you need to register numbers, only names.
Thus Nintendo wouldnt need that.
Silicon Knights are already making 3 games.
Well, those 3 games were original 1 ps1 game :p

Incidently...Patents? Surely they mean copywrite.

No, nintendo owns the legar right over the Eternal Darkness franchise and the "insanity" gameplay system
Hate to burst your bubble, but Eternal Chronicle was unveiled back at that Autumn Nintendo Conference a couple of months back - an RPG from Paon, the team that did the excellent DK: Jungle Climber.

The one they're doing with Sega wasn't.
Some of the trademarks are certainly interesting, but many are actually ones that will have been filed a while back and only just cleared recently. That's why things like the Pok
What does Bokuj
'Farm', I believe. I vaguely remember the Japanese Harvest Moon games having that word in the title...
EDIT: Thinking twice, it could be more like 'Ranch', to be honest.

Whats the difference between ranch and farm?
No-Hoshi Kirby Ultra Super Deluxe
Ranch is usually just where people look after and breed animals for their produce. A farm is where people grow crops & stuff too. :-/
I think it's something like that, anyway, Ranch would make more sense.
ah right thanks.
Then ranch does sound more appropriate.
Eternal Chronicle certainly sounds good
I wonder when we'll know more about it.
From what we saw from initial screenshots (search for the game and you'll see the massive update I did on the Autumn Conference), it looked better than Monolith Soft's Soma Bringer (another DS RPG shown at the same conference).
EDIT: Considering the original SNES game was called Hoshi no Kirby Super Deluxe, I agree the name's the wrong way round in the trademark. I'll change it in the news story.

Eternal Chronicles sounds interesting indeed.

Also the team that did the awful DK jet race game, so I'll keep my expectations low for now.

they couldn't mean copyright as you don't register for copyright on anything. it is in fact granted to the maker of any original work automatically under the Berne Convention.
i believe what we have here is just registration of trademarks.
You get copyright automaticaly, yes.
But I thought you could register for extra security (Eg, proof you did it first).
Anyway, your right, its trademarks.
"The one they're doing with Sega wasn't."
Wait...so your counting Too Human as one game ?
And theres one with Sega?
Whats the other?

there isn't a central registry of copyright but if the work was important to you, you could get a lawyer (or in fact any certified professional) to confirm the works existence at a certain time or date.
The more classic way of doing this is to post a copy of the work to yourself and leave it unopened.
the post frank date is legally admissible as proof of copyright date.
edit.
just thought i had better point out, I'm only talking about the UK
