Nintendo News | Square Enix Promotes Wii Via Virtual World

By Adam Riley 06.12.2007 7

Square Enix's dungeon crawling RPG, Chocobo's Mysterious Dungeon, is set to exclusively hit Wii on 13th December, 2007 in Japan and the developer has started to publicise the 10th Anniversary project it in quite an inventive way indeed.

It has been revealed that the RPG behemoth will be treating its exclusive members in Japan to a special 'Virtual World' that can be accessed on PCs across the nation. Launching next week, the service comes complete with avatar creation, customisation, mini-games and lots of those lovely yellow birds, Chocobos! For those aware of the services, try to imagine something like a rudimentary version of 'Second Life' or PS3's 'Home'.

In the Virtual World, users will be able to sit and relax with their feathered friend the Chocobo and soothingly sip virtual tea whilst gazing upon adverts for upcoming Square Enix products, with new release Chocobo's Mysterious Dungeon for Wii taking centre stage for the moment.

Those interested in that game should be aware that a heap of updated screenshots have been added to the game folder below. So be sure to check it out and stick around for further updates...

lol interesting

Cool, they should have similar for customers in the west. They do keep saying they want to improve western sales and a bit of fan service of this type is a good start. They should have a SE village where they can alter it to suit the promotion of many games, not just one title at a time.

Why is everyone so hyped with Second Life? It's crap. I'm glad S-E didn't just open Second Life houses there, because all that is standing around there are boring looking advertising people trying to sell every company an overhyped plan to open crappy looking virtual offices there. No one ever comes there.
But this in an S-E only surrounding with graphics you don't start to vomit, then it's great. You can visit, you can watch S-E ads (which are more interesting then ever Second Life content combined) and leave. With this service on PC you are not limited to PS3 Home. So Wii users can access it too.

I find your lack of faith disturbing!

Have you all checked out the new shots I painstakingly ripped from the official website? Looks amazing! Took ages to get the screens because it's a sodding Flash site, though Smilie

I did, and they look great. Very polished looking, I was expecting it to look so after that initial trailer a while ago. Thanks for the effort Adam Smilie.

"But this in an S-E only surrounding with graphics "

The point of second life is its a creation medium, like a wiki-world.
This, is nothing like it,its closer to a 3d chat program, which are even more lame.

Im not a fan of second life in the slightest, but its still wrong to missrepresent it.
Some people like spending their lives in world of warcraft, which I find just as crazy.

Good work, do you use "super"? its a great free transcodeing tool.
can even convert from flash to dpg (ds/moonshell movies)..
