Nintendo News | Kirby Wii Canned?

By Adam Riley 18.12.2007 15

Quick News - Whilst Nintendo Japan's release schedule from a few months back still had the GameCube Kirby project listed as a Wii game for 2008, the UK Official Magazine states otherwise. In an 'Ask Nintendo' feature, the response said fans should just await Kirby's appearance in Smash Bros.!

Cubed3 believes the game will still appear in Q3/Q4, though. Share your thoughts on the matter below...

I think it's been canned, just like Air Ride was for N64. I think it will pop up on Wii eventually, or at least a Kirby game will. That's a given, right?

Mod edit: Pffft, another mod having to fix your italics tag. Shameful. Smilie

Nooo! It looked ace. I expect it still exists in some capacity, though.

Maybe they could make a Kirby Canvas Curse/Power Paintbrush for Wii...mmm...

EDIT: Close your tag Link! Smilie

A shame, but there's only so many games they can make and kirby isn't the biggest seller out there.

IF its not a core action styled kirby game, I don't want it.

Awww... I got really excited when they showed this for the GC... coz it looked awsome, but lets hope that its not totally canned!

I see all these people insulting the Nintendo corporation because of the lack of mature content. Yet there is something about Nintendo (at least their games) that strikes a certain unadulterated feeling of joy!!!  Pokemon Y - 1048-9263-5562

Kirby's not that good anyway.

Not the console ones anyway.

Everyone know Kirby's gold age was on the SNES. They did a good work back on the N64 with Kirby: The Crystal Shards but Kirby's adventures don't go too far when they're off the 2D screen Smilie

Don't know if I made my point. I think only Kirby fans can expect great things of a Wii project maybe something as cool as Air Ride or better Smilie

I can see Iwata's baby coming to the console eventually, it would be a shame for the Wii to miss out on such a title. If it's a platformer it will need all the time in development it can have after Galaxy.

Considering how Kirby's a million-seller in Japan, there's no way the Wii project's been cancelled. NoE will simply have said this to stop people moaning about the delay...I call Corporate BS, definitely.

Hoshi no Kirby Wii will hit Japan next year, you mark my words.

Kirby games are great, and this one looked great too. Fast paced CoOp platforming action, where can you go wrong?

Maybe they're wondering if they should get Sakurai in to work on the game. Smilie I think he got pretty upset with some of the past Kirby games, for various reasons. (I think Air Ride's production...)

What!?Smilie Have either one of you ever played

If you have you should know a kirby game done in this style on Wii would be phenomenal.

I think the game will probaly come back as a WiiWare title. Then later on there will be a full fledge Kirby wii game.Smilie

whenever they make a kirby game or not, they definetly have to make the finally boss O3 (Zero Three). O2 was the coolest boss in the kirby series. everything about him was cool. (Looks, story, music etc.) the reason why i still play K-64.

Mario, Mega Man and Rayman FTW!!!

Bah! Shameful... I was really looking forward to another 3D kirby game.

Sure, Smash bros. for the Wii had kirby in it, but its not that full kirby platforming, copying and transforming experience that I've come to know and love.

AirRide was great and I still don't get why so many reviewers were hating on it.

Maybe the reason why HAL keeps pushing this game back is because they're too busy working on the Smash Bros. games. It makes sense, but if they can't kick out another kirby 3D game for this generation then they should hand this kirby game to another developer for the sake of progress.Smilie
