By Jorge Ba-oh 19.01.2008 15

The latest Wii-k in Review looks at various Nintendo tidbits, including a look at NitroBike, Voice Chat, Wii Fit and more.

NPD Talk:
-They do not know the Pink to Red Breakdown of DS sales. Bozon prefers the pink.
-PS3 sold very well, "Its all those games they had"..... Crickets
-CoD4 is blowing away Halo 3. And Wii Play is pretty close.
-Peer thinks a nintendo track version of guitar hero.
-First has to be guitar hero aerosmith then guitar hero winger?
-Wii games is ten games to every system sold
-Wii software outsold 360 software sales
-No More Heroes- Bozon 75,000. Matt- 60,000+

Worms:
-No Online Mode
-3 Months ago a vast online mode was planned
-They would like voice chat

NitroBike:
-6 Players Online
-Was 8 players, originally planned 10, but framerate issues forced the reduction
-Again they want voice chat.

Nintendo's Stance on Voice Chat:
-Nintendo wants parents to listen in on voice chat.
-May not be attached to a persons ear, may be something else.
Bully Wii:
-Same game as the Ps2
-If you liked it then, or were interested and didn't give it a shot do so now
-Rockstar Reps didn't know Brawl would be pushed right around their release

-Bozon takes a great shot at Matt/Perrin/Reggie about the big 3 all coming out by the end of '07

Wiifit:
-Matt; "Aboslutely going to give you a good Workout"
-They think its going to be huge here
-Don't import, a lot of japanese text to get around the game
-May not have a push up counter on the board, that pushup was a part of a compound exercise

Endless Ocean:
-Co-Op online.
-Like a free roaming Pokemon Snap
-You can join a friend's game in progress, they are notified and must surface before you both can dive in.
-You can't swim the vast ocean, you move your boat to a dive spot and go from there. Invisible wall lets keeps you bound in the dive area.
-Cool, Very relaxing, Chill game

Matt and Boz Wii Project:
-Blackout isn't a WiiWare game, its boxed retail.
-A major publisher rep, "dear god Matt, your a father now, we can't have the child's mother dieing in the first minute of the game"

-Peer "My friend told me about this new establisment that opened up in our town in Germany, its $50 Euro, all you can eat/drink and one free prostitute". Bozon and Matt are huge fans of this establishment.
-Bets on Next-Gen Wii Console:

-No company has been as agressive with a wii game since Red Steel.
-Ign to third party publishers "put some damn money and effort into wii games, they'll sell" Big emphasis on that the publishers need to market.

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles
-1:1 controls
-Top 5 Best looking game on the Wii
-May not make it in 2008

-Lots of suprises from Square we'll be suprised (No excitement or attempt to hype in the voice of Matt when he said this)
-What Third-Party games do we Know about? Response: Well theres quite a few.
-DQ:Swords on rails hack and slash not a full DQ game

-Nintendo will eventually announce something, guarentee that it will make you happy, its the light at the end of the tunnel.
-They also expect Pikmin and AC. AC much more than Pikmin.
-Mario Kart Q3 even Q4. Not going to be Q2, but hopefully it is that means they'll have something nice coming this christmas.
-Some developers are looking at JonnyLee ( the wii head and figure tracker guy ), he may not even know it.

Thanks to GoNintendo for the update and PheonixuS for the tip ;)

Be sure to stick around for updates...

sweet, I like the WIR.

They're probably going with a whole speaker in voice chat, as to let the parents listen in, could only hope for a third party headset. Other than that, all looks well, looking forward to that Animal Crossing.

Oh please tell me that announcement is a harddrive!!

Cheers JB, apologies for being so picky. Now you just need to work on the placement of the 'o' and 'e'. Smilie

On topic,

"Nintendo will eventually announce something, guarentee that it will make you happy, its the light at the end of the tunnel."

Gotta be that memory expansion we need.

The sigh of relief among Wii owners would resonate across the lands if true. This if we are right will put a end to so much currently that is made shoddy by the lack of it.

Wii software out sold 360 software? Microsoft keep going on about how their software sales have been stronger than the competition.

Don't like the mutterings about Mario Kart being delayed. I hope that Mario Kart and Brawl don't end up coming out in Q4 in PAL lands.

I want a Wii hard drive but at the same time, I don't want the only option to be a first party HD as It'll most likely cost a fortune knowing Nintendo.Smilie

Nintendo put standard USBs, and gave us standard Keyboard and SD card support.
The hard drive will be, likewise, be a FAT32 usb plugin.
They wont bother developing their own format.

Their will probably be Nintendo branded hard drives, but I dought you have to use them.
(just like memory cards)

Last update; Mice,Plumbers,Animatronics and Airbenders. We also have the socials; Facebook & G+

Just make sense for them to open the SD card slot, it'd be piss easy for them. A max of 2 gig extra is more than enough for me. Smilie

Then again, I doubt they'd waste an opportunity to make money off another peripheral. Smilie

Thing is we really need a lot more than 2 gig if we want to get useful content. For starters I want all my games easily available, that was the whole point in the first place, they have been saying otherwise recently. God I hope, I hope it looks like a mini Wii too Smilie

I actually like the sound of the Mario Kart being delayed thing, it would give NoE less time to work on Mario Kart, and more time on Smash Bros (I'm convinced NoE wanted to release Mario Kart instead of Smash Bros in the first half of the year)

I hope it's a HardDrive too, I also hope it's not too expensive...

And Nintendo's idea of voice chat is stupid. Bring on 3rd party headsets. I'm really pissed off with Nintendo's attitude to gaming.

SEVEN YEAR OLDS AREN'T MEANT TO PLAY ONLINE. That's reserved for the hardcore audience, they can't seriously be suggesting they want parents to hear in on voice chat included in a 12/15+ rated game? FFS.

Yeah, parental controls do work. My brother has RE4 and COD3 for the Wii, and you have to enter a password to play either one. Why not allow voice chat but require a parental password for that too?

That said, a Nintendo-branded echo-cancelling speakerphone really wouldn't surprise me too much.

The part about Nitrobike's Wi-Fi mode's players support being cut from 8 to 6 because of framerate issues makes me go, "ROFLMFAO!!!!". Smilie Then I cry. Smilie

I assume most people here have seen screenshots and clips of Nitrobike. You wanna talk about not even trying in the graphics department? I expected MUUUUUUUUCH better from Left Field Studios. Have they seen Metroid Prime 3 or Mario Galaxy? I'm so dissappointed. Smilie I was hoping it was truly going to be the spiritual successor to the sublime Excitebike 64. Smilie

Online voice chat for Wii is sorely needed (as well as more memory). I wonder if Nintendo will utilize something that works in conjuction with your TV's speakers (or sound system).

They really need to removed that stupid 2gig SD card cap and allow gamers to boot VC (& WiiWare) games from an SD card. Also, for quality downloadable content, something they've already expressed as being a BIG part of Wii games (as well as Wi-Fi play :rollSmilie, Wii NEEDS a good HDD. I can't believe they're actually being stubborn about it.

I don't mind Mario Kart being delayed, personally. It'll provide them more time to polish it up, include more goodies, and we'll be getting a better game on launch day. For that same reason, I don't mind Smash Brawl being delayed at all. In fact, games aren't getting delayed enough. Especially Wii titles; nothing but rushed, half assed, low budget, ports and spin-offs to get a quick cash in so they can fund quality titles for the 2nd & 3rd most popular consoles on the planet. Frick'n dumbasses. Smilie

If ninty do let out a voice chat feature like as said before, it could have a parental control to let you choose if you want to be able to use a headset or listen in to your childrens conversations, but they need to allow it on most of the games that have online, and heck even release a channel for it (like a lobby that lets you boot the game from itSmilie) or make it work for your friends list on the Wii-Menu.
