EA's John Riccitiello has confirmed a Wii version of Rock Band is in the works.

The CEO confirmd the rumoured existence of the game in a conference call, according to IGN, noting that EA "will, at some time, bring Rock Band to every [important] platform." For the Wii version, he noted: "I think the Wiimote is something that holds enormous promise."

Although no official announcement has been made, EA has confirmed that Riccitiello's remarks were true, and that players can expect to make sweet music on their Wiis sometime in the future.

Awesome! My roommate and I have been waiting for Activision to release extra guitars for the Wii's Guitar Hero Game and we're still waiting. Bums us out. Heck I wonder if Rock Band will be out before the damn extra guitars come out...

Unless Nintendo allow external HDD's or release their own and improve the online drastically this will be an extremely watered down version of it's PS3 and 360 counterpart. I don't see how the Wiimote could make it any better either.

Lack of any DLC and space makes Rock Band for Wii pretty pointless.

I fear they scrape downloadable content altogether. No DLC for Wii. I hope not!
But aside from that, it's something I've been waiting for a long time. I played through GH3 and enjoyed it immensely, longing for new songs and/or GH 1 and 2 released on Wii. Rock Band will be the source of new songs.

Aside from that either, you can drum with 2 Wiimotes, play guitar with another, base with the fourth. Oh, wait: How to tell the game which drum is played with Wiimote... hmmm... Okay, expensive peripheral is needed!
But remember the first Wii-trailer: The guy who played drum with Wiimote held as drumsticks? Would be great...
I find your lack of faith disturbing!

This is going to be good, like to see whether they use the wii controlls or release all the preheperals like on the other consoles.
