Original Story, 12/02/08: Following a strong start last week, Super Smash Bros. Brawl for Wii has already broken the million mark in Japan. The game sold a mammoth 820,000 copies according to Media Create in its first week, despite reports of severe shortages of the title. However, Nintendo is now reporting that it has now sold 1,080,000 units of the immensely popular fighting title that this time round also features Snake and Sonic the Hedgehog since it launched back on 31st January, eleven days ago. This sets a new sales record for a Wii game in Japan, with it being the quickest to reach the million mark, even proving a faster seller than Wii Fit, which took only a month to hit the same milestone.
Western gamers must wait for Nintendo of America to release the Wii game on 9th March, whilst those in PAL territories still await a final release date.
