Nintendo's upcoming balance-board kit has been priced after recent confirmation of its launch date in Europe.

The company revealed today that Wii Fit will cost players a whopping £69.99 in the UK and €89.99 throughout Europe. The game promises to innovate the way we exercise by taking you through various mini-games: aerobics, yoga training, balance games and muscle workouts to the more fun varieties like twirling a hula hoop or ski-ing.

Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime recently confirmed that the package will retail for under $100 in the States.

Hmm - really, really unsure about this. It think it will do fairly well, but definitely not as well as Nintendo hope imo. Considering it's aimed at the casual, relaxed family market I don't think many folk would be paying £70 for it.

I personally don't think I'd invest in it immediately, all the other peripherals we've got have been £40 or less - bongos, dance mat, light guns etc.

I'm sure the technology is pretty cool inside it, but that's a bit of a rip-off in my opinion. I don't think I'll be getting this now.

£50 would have been a more reasonable price.

Same price as Guitar Hero with a significantly more complex controller.

Still, £70 is a lot of cash compared to the £50 equivalent US gamers will be paying. I\'m still on the fence about the game anyway. It might be a fun way to exercise, but I\'m not convinced it\'ll be in anyway effective.

If people shell out €250 for a Wii with Wii Sports, €40 for a Wiimote, €20 for a nunchuck and €90 for a plastic guitar, then I\'m sure enough of them will pay €90 for Wii Fit.

For me or my family? No thanks. Not until they come with a BB-enabled 1080°.

And a significantly less complicated game that doesn't involve royalty payments to a heck of a lot of musicians and so on..

I doubt cost even enters into it regarding peripherals themselves anyway, I'm sure they all cost peanuts to make, its more just the fact that they're included mentally justifies a higher price to the consumer. I would bet that most of the cost of big periperals like these is actually in packaging and shipping, rather than making the things themselves.

What games would you like to see with balance board controls?

If I'm going to pay £70 I want a promise that these games will be made:

Wii Sumo: Adjust your balance to flatten the opposition! Use the Wiimote and Nunchuk to grapple and slap!

Wii James Bond Ski Pursuit: Use the balance board to ski downhill. Use the Wiimote to shoot the SPECTRE bad guys.

Ouch! i think there has been flaw in NOE's pricing strategy here.
i will be surprised if it has anything but a moderate take-up in the UK at that price.

50 quid would seem more realistic, the money grabbing so and so's Smilie

They need to announce the new games in development for the balance board in order to show that it won't be a one tricky pony before I'm interested in spending £70 on the package. Saying this, I know a lot of people that are genuinely worried about their weight and health will see this as a bargain compared to the real other stuff on the market.

It will be less than $100 in the US? I am thinking it will probably be $99.99 then. I was hoping for a price closer to $79.99 in the US. Do you think the US accessory will work on a UK Wii? You could probably track down the UK game for cheap then buy the Balance board from the US cheaper then buying the UK bundle.

The game would have to have a lot of features to be worth £70. I for one won't be paying this much money on a "non-game." Give me Mario Kart Wii at £30-£40 any day.

I paid £40 for this in Japan, which was 1/3 more than the standard price of games. (£30)

1/3 extra on the standard UK £40 price tag is about £55....

It'll probably sell loads if casual gamers are wiling to pay £180 for Wii Sports...

And compared to buying 2 crap £40 non-games like Carnival game and EA playground....this is excellent value for non-gamers.

I wonder if they'll do Wii & Wii Fit bundles? About £250 sounds about right for that.

Hey don't forget this is an RRP, it's likely to be a lot cheaper online.

How many of you still pay the £39.99 RRP of Wii Games?

Exactly, you know this will be £20 cheaper on some discount websites.

Actually there's not a big difference here in Holland. You're lucky if you can get €5 off... and shipping costs are often around €3. For €2, I'd rather walk into a store on launch day and buy it myself.
