Do we have any information about Ryu ga Gotoku Kenzan! for the PS3? That seems to be a pretty strong first day for a PS3 title.

Update: Nevermind, it is the new Yakuza game. Good for SEGA! They don't seem to do well in Japan.

Just why on earth doesn't Metroid do so well in Japan?

I'm glad Nintendo have always taken into account the fact that Metroid has always done great in Europe and North America and continued to develop the franchise though.

It's just such a shame to see such a fantastic gaming series not do so well over there. We're all humans - surely our opinions of games aren't THAT different that most Japanese don't like non-linear exploration games in the form of Metroid? Metroid is sheer brilliance in every game that has been created for the series.

I like the look of that Yakuza game, it has modelled itself on Shenmue a touch. Lets hope Metroid3 does well eventually, it would mean a mess in all regions if it does do bad. When I mean mess I mean the promotion of the game.

Well, despite Prime 3 being an absolutely exceptional, mind blowing game Smilie, I can't see Prime 3 selling very well in Japan because of the type Prime 3 is. FPSs (or in this case, FPAs Smilie) are typically not a popular over there.

What's truly surprising, is that MP3 hasn't been far more successful in Europe and the States. It's such a damn incredible game. Smilie

I think Super Metroid and the original NES game both did very well...but others bombed, including the excellent GBA duo Smilie

Japanese gamers should give Prime 3 a try. I mean, it's not your typical FPS. I don't like FPSs in general, but still enjoyed the Prime games.

Ugh, Mario Party 8 was awful compared to the series previous installments; meanwhile, Metroid Prime 3 offers a new perspective to the Prime series and finishes it off right. I convinced a couple of people I know to buy Metroid Prime 3, but the casual gamers won't take that step forward. The game very much deserves to sell well, but unfortunately there wasn't any marketing plan to back the game up.

I never understood how "too liner" is a problem.
Whats a problem is if your
    a) stuck on one bit and have nothing to do
    b) game is too repedative
    c) too much backtracking.

The last metroid had none of these and a freedom of exploration still just fine.
The fact that key plot things had to be done mostly in an order I dont see as a bother at all.
Zelda dungoens also, with rare exceptions, have to be done in order too.
