Doubt may have begun to creep in about the status of Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles on Wii, but it seems the game is alive and well. Whilst nothing much has been heard of 'The Crystal Bearers' since some updated scans last year, Square Enix's Mitsuru Kamiyama has put everyone's fears to rest whilst talking about Ring of Fates, which launched in Europe on Friday 21st March.
Clearly Square Enix has wanted to concentrate on releasing the DS iteration and was focused on completing 'My Life As a King' for WiiWare before moving into top gear on 'The Crystal Bearers'.
Kikizo: For the last CC game, you emphasised connectivity between the GBA and the GC. Now you have the Wii and the DS. Will there be any sort of connectivity between the two systems?
Kamiyama-san: There are no plans for direct connection between the Wii Crystal Bearers and the DS Ring of Fates at this time. Since Crystal Bearers is still under development, we can't share too much about it yet. They're entirely separate games, nothing is shared between them, although they share a similar worldview. We think that people who play Ring of Fates will find certain things to smile at when they play through Crystal Bearers, however.

Good to hear it's definitely still alive though. I'd be a tad surprised if there was no DS-Wii connectivity but it wouldn't be a major problem, if only to transfer characters and then level them up on the move or something.
They did promise Crystal Bearers to be online, so I hope they stick to that too. CC was made for online team play.

I'm glad this game is still in production - it will be Sqeenix's first AAA Nintendo home console game since FFVI. As long as they've overhauled the combat system since the first Crystal Chronicles, this should be a must-buy for moi.

I hope multiplayer is removed and they just concentrate on a great single player game.

I definitely want a much improved interactive single player campaign, but I wouldn't want the multiplayer removed altogether, personally.
Keep a basic multiplayer option open, because co-op is always fun. Online play is a must for me too though. The first CC on GameCube could have been so much better, and everyone knows it, if it had online play, so I would hate to see them completely scrap online in the next Wii CC. I feel like online play has to be tried in CC before deciding not to do it at all.
For sure though, a top 1-player mode is much needed.

oh, thats good news then.
I hope its drop in/drop out multiplayer with the option of using DS as controllers. (part of the fun of the first game was the secret-missions you got per player)
I dont want online MMO style thingy, allthough I wouldnt be supprised if it turns out like that. (Wiiware payments et all)( Edited 24.03.2008 17:40 by Darkflame )

MANCHESTERI completed Rings Of Fate earlier and i absolutely loved it. Without doubt my favourite DS game by far. It craps all over Zelda Pokemon etc. It's just brilliant from the awesome FMV sequences to the addictive music, I hope this game is half as good then ill be over the moon

I'm sure the music is great, but FMV add's nothing to a game for me, so thats not a plus.
I do think its a missed opertunity though, not having a structure like the gamecube game, where any number of players could play at any time and its all the same adventure.
That said, I saw a few neat puzzles when someone else was playing it, so I might get it for single player.
Mysterious Village first though.
Then Zack and Wiki.
I like my puzzles!

Ditto. It may not be the main Final Fantasy series but that shouldn't stop them.

To be fair i was never a fan of Final Fantasy CC, i think that game just put me off the FF series altogether. Where do you guys find time to play RPG's like that!
Blade2t3 Reply Quote #12
Yeesh don't judge the FF series by that piece of crap, try one of the main series ones (FF7 onwards your best bet) thats were the quality lies.
jesusraz Reply Quote #13
Erm...no...if you're going to start with the FF series, either grab FFV or FFVI. Those are where the real quality lies!
