Ubisoft Confirms Ninja Gaiden for Europe on Nintendo DS

By Adam Riley 04.04.2008 12

Update - Following Cubed3's exclusive revelation that Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword was coming to Europe from Ubisoft yesterday, the company has now announced the official month of release as being June 2008:

"Today Ubisoft, one of the world's largest video game publishers, announced a distribution agreement to release Tecmo's NINJA GAIDEN Dragon Sword to all EMEA territories. Already a critically acclaimed game in the US and Japan, NINJA GAIDEN Dragon Sword will hit European shelves in June 2008.

"NINJA GAIDEN: Dragon Sword is the latest iteration in the series and the first to be made for Nintendo's DS handheld system, featuring gorgeous rendered backgrounds, a new exciting story and the traditional fast-paced action that the franchise is known for. Taking perfect advantage of the Nintendo DS with intuitive stylus gameplay, Ryu Hayabusa's combat moves are mapped onto the DS touchscreen and directional buttons which allows him to run, jump, attack and cast Ninpo. Certain move combinations will enable Ryu to perform fatal special attacks such as the Izuna Drop and Cicada Slash which are some of Ryu's signature moves.

"NINJA GAIDEN: Dragon Sword is developed by Executive Producer Tomonobu Itagaki and the Team NINJA development studio."

Pants, pants, pants, messy, pants, pants, could be tasty, pants, pants, very good but sly.

Victorious Boxers Challenge/Hajjime No Ippo:

It does not look like a worthwhile investment unless you are a fan of the Manga, especially with some good looking Boxing games coming to Wii later this year. There is a Don King one and a EA one which is not Fight Night due in Q4. I am really hoping for a decent Boxing game on Wii.

Ubisoft are sly. They are releasing quality games like Ninja Gaiden DS and No More Heroes in the attempt affiliating themselves with quality games, when they do not make any themselves on Wii yet.

True.
Which is odd considering they released lots of great games on the cube. (Prince of Persia Trillogy and BG&E especialy).

Hmm... AC for the DS? I don't know about that one. The rest look alright, I suppose.

When you look at the screens you will know why.

@Darkflame:

They say they are now striving for \"Nintendo Quality\". Hopefully something will come of it, but we wont see glimpses of this quality till the end of the year at the earliest.

It is a lot easier doing a decent port of a game from one console with a traditional control set-up to another. It's another thing with Wii. That requires a strange, scary little thing called "effort".

Do you really think AC in it's 360 form is possible on Wii, your taking the piss surely?

Ninja Gaiden DS is the only decent one and they didn't even make that. They're just publishing it. So much for this supposed Nintendo quality eh?

I love how Q1 has actually finished and there's still no BiA on Wii...

BiA? What's that?

Ninja Gaiden on DS - it's about time!

I find your lack of faith disturbing!

I think dojo means Brothers in Arms

Not a very good line up, the dog island will probably sell loads.

Brothers in Arms is ok i guess.

Well actually, ninja Gaiden DS is the best game on there.

Brothers in Arms isn't my kind of game. At least it's more mature then Bunnyz!
Brotherz in Armz?

Yes, it is the best game up there imho, too. Every other one there just isn't made for me.
*If* Ubisoft does change their lineup towards quality, then they are sure we recognize the change with shitload like this coming up beforehand...

I find your lack of faith disturbing!
