Prince of Orlando Bloom: Sands of Time

The Prince of Persia has taken a detour to Hollywood and will now masquerade as Orlando Bloom.

The English actor, famous for roles in Lord of the Rings and Pirates of a Caribbean, is said to be starring in the upcoming Prince of Persia flick as the sword wielding chap himself. Joystiq reports that Bloom topped High School Musical pin-up Zac Effron to the role, netting a hefty wad of $40 million US.

Does Orlando suit the role of the Prince of Persia?

I think Bloom is ideal for the Prince's role. The Prince's voice was quite well done with that English accent in The Sands of Time. The voice actor's American-ness poked through now and again, but you knew what he was trying to be, and that is what suits the Prince best - an English accent.

Bloom's voice should be good enough for the role, and hopefully he'll have a good few sarcastic remarks and witty comments thrown in occasionally, just as in the games.

Getting such a high profile actor for the main role should hopefully get the public interested in this video game-to-movie tie in. I'm a big fan of the PoP series and am looking forward to how this turns out. I've got hope that this won't be your typical game-to-movie film.

I can't imagine Effron as the Prince so I'm glad Bloom got it. Now let's see how shit this movie is (hoping it it good though).

I was about to come here and get my bitch on until I read that they were considering Zac Efron (THE FUCK!?!?)! I'm actually relieved now. I don't mind Bloom so much. (Don't they DARE give it to Zefron)
