Rumour: Reduced Price Wii Bundles?

By Jorge Ba-oh 10.04.2008 11

A rumour has been circulating on a possible price cut for the Wii in May.

In a move most likely in response to Microsoft's recent slash on the Xbox 360 base price, says Gamer TM. An insider from Nintendo of France suggests that the company aim to knock off a whopping 40% from the standard Wii Sports package and introduce other options for those seeking a little more.

I want a DS Lite price cut as well damn it.

I think Nintendo's already gone on the record to deny this, for the time being. Seems like it could be true, though...and Nintendo's just covering up as usual.

Would be good. IMO I can't see a price drop to

Are these worldwide or Europe only?

This is the dumbest thing I ever heard! If Nintendo is smart, like I'm sure they are, this will stay just a rumor. Wiis can't stay on the shelves at all. Don't game consoles get price reductions when they aren't selling much at all anyway?

I, too, think, that this is a Hoax. Why should they drop prices?

I find your lack of faith disturbing!

Would be awesome, because anyone who's ever held back on buying one would prolly get one because of this, but I just don't think it'll happen.

A price drop would be nice, but 60 all-at-once just seems too unlikely.

A European specific price drop makes sense, given how much more we're paying for it than other territories, and given Microsoft's recent European specific (or was it UK specific) 360 price drop. I know there's no need to drop the price if demand is still high, but they really wouldn't want the competition to gain any kind of advantage, and it would seem that stock issues aren't particularly severe in Europe (compared to the US).

actually I've seen bundles of wii's for sale. come with the wii, Galaxy, a classic, two wii and nuchuk remotes. and they were cheaper than buying each separately. although I live in the US.

40% definately not true! but i can see a wii price-cut in the foreseeable future with the 360 price-drop it's bound to happen soon.
