Emergent Game Technologies has announced that Nibris's upcoming Sadness is being built on the Gamebryo Engine.

The polish studio is bringing its first Wii title, Sadness, to the world of black and white, utilising Emergent's Gamebryo engine to create an experience with small time and budget.

According to the press release, Sadness is due to take place before the events of World War I with players finding themselves taking control of the lead character's hands using the Wii remote and nunchuck. Not much is known on the storyline itself, but Nibris have revealed that there will be 8 different endings based on choices made previously.

[quote]From the early stages of pre-production with Sadness, Nibris realized that they would need development technology that allowed for an extreme amount of flexibility in the creative process, which is a cornerstone of the Gamebryo framework. Sadness is designed to push the bounds of Wii technically and creatively.

I personally think GameBryo is a bit poo, certainly next to UE.

They should now be able to concentrate fully on this, and for a small team that's really what they should have been doing from the start. Sounds like it could be a great game, one as good as if not better than RE4 WiiEd.

There's a game engine for every usage. Some are better for indoor-levels, some overall great, some are heavy on graphics, some are scalable... So saying, that Gamebryo is a bit poor to UE may be true in some aspects, but certainly not in every single one.
No offense meant, knighty, it may be true, that it can't compete against UE. But it's Wii. Some may say that Oblivion wouldn't be possible on Wii (And they may be right to some extend). I hope they go heavy on graphics, silence all the nextgen-whores.

Well the fact that the middleware company itself announced this and not Nibris is a good sign that the company atleast exists, though I can understand your skepticism. I jumped on the Nibris bandwagon very early, and have only been disappointed. Hopefully we do eventually see Sadness before 2036...

Shame that ROTR is going by the wayside, sounded like such a cool game, but again, more disappointment..

Woah! I wonder how much they've had to scale it down for the Wii...
