A neat unlockable in the recently released Mario Kart Wii could be a hint for an upcoming F-Zero.
One of the features of completing some of the later stages of the game is a tribute to the space-aged Nintendo racer, and some have suggested gives a hint of things to come for Wii.

Seriously though, if you ask me it's simply one of the most awesome references in a Mario Kart game evar! 
I don't think it hints at anything though. You don't need a reference to see that the F-Zero series isn't dead yet.
