By Jorge Ba-oh 29.04.2008 14

Update 29/04/2008: A new trailer has emerged on the Crash Bandicoot website.

Original story: The once-PlayStation mascot returns to Nintendo taking Mind over Mutants, and the return of the diabolical cortex.

VE3D reports the return of a rejuvenated Neo Cortex who aims to take over the world using...text-messaging to take control of both mutant and bandicoot minds. Crash Bandicoot returns to free his chums from evil.

The Crash Bandicoot franchise has built a wide audience of loyal fans, appealing to both male and female gamers of all ages. The Crash series remains one of the most recognizable franchises in our industry and we're excited to make this year's family-friendly title appear at the top of every gamer's wish list this holiday.

Al Simone, senior vice president, Global Marketing for Sierra Entertainment.

  • Mutant in your Pocket! - Not only does Crash gain the ability to control his enemies when he jacks them.
  • now he can store his favorite monsters in his pocket, upgrade them and utilize their powers when they are most advantageous.
  • "Free-Romping" World Design - Wumpa Island becomes a "free-romping" environment, allowing players to travel and explore through intersecting worlds, with different gameplay options available depending on what creature you've brought along for the ride.
  • Girl Power! - Your co-op partner is Crash's sister, Coco, playable for the first time in the cooperative mode. Not only does Coco make the game that much more inviting for girls to pick up and play, she also brings with her a new tactile "treasure hunt" ability.

The game hits cross-platform on October 28, 2008.

Ok I recognise an eroor with that, I have playd basically every Crash game produced and this is not the first game with coco as a playble character, unless I have read something wrong. They tried a free-roaming style environment in twinsanity, and it sucked bcause it was just a loop. And thats about it, I dont play them anymore but I felt like writing this.

It says playable for the first time in cooperative mode. I guess that means since you couldn't play co-op on previous games.

And the games all sucked since ND sold the rights.

hehe first Sonic, then Lara and now Crash. All we need now is Master Chief and Jak and Daxter and Nintendo will have been the only games company to sucessfully nick every major mascot from rival companies.

And Spyro. Smilie Shame those games only went multiformat after they started completely sucking. Smilie

Yeah I think it's the same case with Crash, because Sony sold them or something, or they just got new "worse" devs that released their games multiplatform.

Am I the only one liked Crash of the Titans? Granted it did not feel like a "traditional" Crash game I still felt it was good.

I used to seriously love Crash Bandicoot in the day, was the reason I got a PS1 - such a tough but fun platformer, but eventually it started to go downhill and I lost interest.

From the Xbox 360/PS3 screens it does look pretty sweet, so who knows!

If there's one mascot (past or present) in the industry that needs to retire, then I vote Crash over Sonic. Warped! was the high-point, it's been downhill ever since.Smilie

If Naughty Dog were to somehow reacquire the rights to Crash, or make a game similar to the originals, that would be the best thing ever.

Crash has been on other consoles since like 2002. And 2 out of the three that went multiplatform were hardly successful

I have the first few Crash games... and they were so glitchy (or badly coded, im not sure which anymore) that i couldn\'t enjoy them =(

I don't remember Crash Bandicoot 2 or 3 being glitchy at all..

They werent noticably glitchy, but then again my CB3 might have been because my brother tried running it without removing Colin Mcree rally from the PS1Smilie..God I miss that game.
