The interactive guide to the world of Wii and Nintendo, the Nintendo channel, has gone live in the US.

Essentially it's a whole collection of promotional material and information for recently released and forthcoming games: trailers, documentaries, demo videos and future downloads.

According to Kotaku, Wiis in the US have been sent a lil' note to start up the Nintendo Channel process:

Nintendo Channel is an interactive guide to what's new in the world of Nintendo - now available for easy download from the Wii Shop Channel. Watch trailers, mini-documentaries, product demonstrations, and gameplay videos.

Browse the game guide pages to get information about your favorite games on Wii and Nintendo DS. You can even click to order games straight from your Wii, if you have the Internet Channel installed. Make sure your Wii is connected to the internet, and get started!

A demo reel of the channel running in English:

  • Official Nintendo Channel webpage (US)

  • The channel goes live in Europe on May 30th 2008.

Nice it would be better if we actually got to play the demos instead of watching them... but hey ho!

I wonder what DS demos they have available today.

\"You can even click to order games straight from your Wii, if you have the Internet Channel installed\"

Surely they mean Wii Ware or the VC ?

They mean it takes you to the internet browser and take you straight to an online shop where you can buy the chosen game from.

If they have done this, this is very new and I am surprised Nintendo are making alliances with specific online retailers this way.

I had heard they were doing this I recall faintly after the channel launched in Japan, but I thought it would only be their region.

Good news for Nintendo, this is another means to get more money from the best games, and quickly also.

I hear you have to have spent a hour with a game before you can review it. I hope those reviews help sell the best games that did not sell very well, those like Metroid P3. If they are putting third party titles on their too they should help give Zack and Wiki a lift also.

Letting people rate after playing the games is a hugely good idea. But personaly I think it should require more then an hour.
(It takes more then an hour to truely get into games like Corruption. And stuff like Twlight Princess an hour barely skratchs the surface).

But yes, I hope this helps games like Zack and Wiki sale more. (utterly fantastic game indeed. Pure madness).
Also, I hope this generation dosnt get another "Eternal Darkness" incident. Games which are highly groundbreaking in their genre, yet barely make any impact.

They'll probably have Wiiware in a week or so.

12th May. Not sure what games they get.

One day I will be a real life anime.

It\'s cool. When I left home yesterday in the morning I saw the shining blue light. But I didn\'t pay attention and left a note saying \"Please check the message.\"

It was until I got home that I was able to download the channel \'cause my brothers can\'t do a single thing Smilie.

I took my time and it\'s really cool. I love it Smilie, simply magnificent!

PS: Yeah I\'ve had problems, but then I wait a little and it\'s gone Smilie

It's pretty snazzy. I've only watched a couple videos and played a few demos so far, but it looks pretty cool. I'm thinking I'll check this at least every week or so. The DS demos are nice.

I haven't checked out any of the reviews or anything else on it yet. I'm looking forward to seeing what all you can on this. I'm impressed as it is.
