New Activision Games for Wii and DS

By Shane Jury 09.05.2008 12

At a recent Media Conference, Activision announced that new entries from some of their acclaimed franchises are on the way to Wii and DS.

Call of Duty 5, a series that hasn't been seen on Wii since the third title, has been confirmed for a Wii and DS release, with a "new military theater" as the setting, according to Activision Publishing CEO Mike Griffith.

The DS will also be seeing a new Tony Hawk exclusive, which is touted by Activision as having "new technology not yet seen". No more details were given for this game, however, Griffith commented that it is only one of two independent developments in the Tony Hawk series, the second of which will be out in 2010, and that hasn't been announced for any specific platforms. The second announced title "will have two years in development to deliver the kind of breakthrough this franchise needs," said Griffith.

Griffith also mentioned that new information on the newest Guitar Hero title will be released in the next couple of weeks, and that Guitar Hero 4 will "provide a significant leap forward" for the series.

Looking forward to see this "significant leap forward" for the Guitar Hero series.

Basically, it means that Guitar Hero 4 will be a Rock Band clone and Call of Duty 5 will be set in WW2 Pacific.

Who's making CoD5? Treyarch or Infinity Ward? Hope it's infinity ward.

It has been rumored that it'll basically be Guitar & Band Hero (Rock Band setup) + Keyboards.

Haha. Prepare to be disappointed.

I used to think CoD was like a special release, but it sounds like it's turning into MoH/FIFA. A game per year. Doesn't sound too great to me. Sure it's good it's coming to Wii I guess, I wonder if it'll be good/it'll work on some of CoD3's errors.

this breakthrough might just be a foot pedal XD

"new tech" for a tony hawk game?

....like it's actually a new game rather than a rehash of tony hawk 1-15?

When you shorten "technology" to "tech", it almost sounds like this new TH game will just have a new skating move. Smilie

If Call Of Duty 5 is as good as 4 then im definitely getting it

It won't be, the odd itterations are made by crap developers, the even ones are the good ones.

Well, thats the way it should be from now on, if Activ continues like this.

I remember when the Gamecube was supposed to be a huge leap forward...which turned out to be the use of discs instead of cartridges. Smilie
