Reef Entertainment has announced a port of Rogue Trooper: The Quartz Zone Massacre for Wii.

The original last-gen title, for PS2, Xbox and PC, told the take of solider from the future betrayed by his general. Only he survives an onslaught, but has the abilities of his deceased comrades in his electrical equipment.

Reef have highlighted refinements in the original, including all-new Wii controls and the odd visual refinement here and there.

Rogue Trooper: The Quartz Zone Massacre is one of the best games Reef has been involved with, and to win this contract for the Wii version is fantastic. Were taking a hit game to a unique console where we believe the exciting elements we've added will make this 3rd shooter a hugely successful Wii title.

    Peter Rezon, CEO of Reef

A trailer for the original Rogue Trooper, released in 2006:

The Wii-port is due for release in Q4 2008.

I'll probably buy it, if only to help keep 2000AD going.

I was about to go with my 'effin Wii ports Smilie' attitude again, but this game seems to have some credit on here.
Certainly can't say I've heard of it before.Smilie

I was actually thinking about picking up the PS2 version of this the other day. If the Wii controls work well, I'll definitely get the Wii version.

Absolutely loved the Rogue Trooper stories in 2000AD in the 80s.

Can anyone tell me whether the Nu-Earth in the game is well realised? Are there plenty of references to classic story lines and elements of the comic, or have the developers designed most of the weapons and vehicles etc themselves?

Cracking game. Had fun with this when it was first released for the PC. Looking forward to seeing how the improved Wii version plays.
