Rockstar's recently release of GTA IV sees the game take prime position over Mario Kart in Europe.
The latest installment sits firmly in pole position across all European countries this week, from Germany to Sweden, Denmark to Ireland. The general trend also sees Wii Fit, Wii Play and Nintendo's beloved Mario Kart follow closely behind in the top five.
Surprisingly the American-based trivia and mini-game fest, Game Party, still sneaks into the charts in the UK, for whatever sick and twisted reason.

7231 763 15.02.2007 LinkyshinksYeah, this drop was expected, there was no way it could hold the top spot much longer. Wii Fit and Mario Kart Wii will have a long life in the Top Ten for a while I think. Wii Fit in particular will stay there longer that GTA I think.

Ex-hardcore gamers are doing it for sentimental value. Probably.
As for the chart placings, I maintain the notion that UK has always had bad taste in games.

If I remember, MGS3 only got to number 10 in UK chart.
It's not casual enough in the UK market

Maybe it's cheaper in Euros. It's surprising because I thought every girl in the country though she was fat.
And even more surprising is that the PS3 version did better than the 360 version.

Never been a fan of the games myself, but its obvious and respectable to be beaten by that level of competition.
Its when stuff like Metroid lose's to Mario & Sonic I get depressed.

I'm part of "that camp" too, but I honestly wouldn't call it shiteness.
Not on the same level as E.T. Atari. Hell it's probably better than Wii Play.
