Orbital Media was ready to hit the world with a barrage of top-tier titles on the Game Boy Advance after the release of Racing Gears Advance. However, as generally happens, certain factors intervened and caused both Juka & the Monophonic Menace and Scurge: Hive to be severely delayed. Now both are back on track, with Juka looking as strong as ever. But what about Scurge: Hive? Will it fall short of the mark like Sigma Star Saga, a similarly styled futuristic title, or fly higher than people could ever expect? Luckily, Cubed
...and find out we did. The conclusion? Scurge: Hive has not only lost none of its original appeal, but has in fact far exceeded even our early impressions and holds up perfectly well on both the Nintendo DS and Game Boy Advance. Okay, first things first

You all know Samus Aran of Metroid fame, right? Well, the protagonist of Scurge is also a bounty hunter like her

But running around and blasting away with your pulse gun (which can be upgraded as the game goes on, such as an energy shot that fries electrical enemies, but boosts others

After all, the graphics in both versions are full of verve and swagger, with swarms of characters bombarding Jenosa on a regular basis without a hint of slowdown, as well as bright, vivacious colours spread all around, mixing in well with the dull, metallic nature of the lab itself and smooth animation for all characters and enemies involved. The same goes for the quality of the soundtrack
This is the game GBA fans (should) have been waiting for, and DS fans will become besotted with

But with an isometric viewpoint and a much more intense feel to the gameplay! Smilie

And anyway, you make it sound like being likened to Metroid is a BAD thing!

    Hehe! :alien:

It sounds like a complex metroid.

'Cheap copy of Metroid' / 'Complex Metroid'

Nice contrast Smilie It's really fun. Have either of you played Racing Gears Advance? Karn / spydarlee reviewed it...he'll tell you exactly how good it is.

Orbital is definitely one to watch!

Eh... Originally I was pretty interested in this game, but now that games like Yoshi's Island 2, Starfox and Pokemon are vying for people's money it seems pretty damn pointless to even try to release a DS game if it doesn't have a Nintendo logo on it...
