Review for Snow Moto Racing 3D (Hands-On) on Nintendo 3DS

After the highly impressive take on Nintendo's Wave Race, Zordix is back with something that aims to fill the gap left by the lack of a new 1080º snowboarding title. The successor to Aqua Moto Racing 3D is nearly here, and Cubed3 had a chance to try it out before launch. Read on to find out more on Snow Moto Racing 3D.

Whilst 1080º Snowboarding and 1080º Avalanche were snowboarding titles, Snow Moto Racing 3D is a game that has riders on snow mobiles instead, and the ultimate result is actually rather like a snow-based version of Excitebike, which is certainly no bad thing. Courses feature a variety of surfaces to drive on, with variable conditions affecting riding performance; slippery ice, deep snow, and so on. All manner of stunts can also be pulled off in a far easier fashion now, simply by holding either shoulder button down and quickly choosing one of the sixteen possibilities using the Circle Pad whilst flying through the air.

There are plenty of courses to conquer with settings across America, Europe and Asia, with players able to unlock faster snow mobiles further into the game, collecting currency dotted around tracks, and wisely using boost to fly up ramps and grab more air time for stunts.

Take part in various Championship Cups across different seasons to become the best, whilst brushing up on skills in the Quick Race and Tutorial modes, tweaking engines in the Garage, and keeping an eye on Achievements and Statistics along the way. Throw in promised StreetPass and Multiplayer features and Snow Moto Racing 3D looks extremely enticing indeed!

Final Thoughts

Snow Moto Racing 3D is already shaping up to be yet another strong release from the team at Zordix. Anyone looking for some sturdy snow-based action and thrills in the absence of a new 1080º Snowboarding from Nintendo should definitely keep an eye out for this. With multiplayer offered as well, there should be plenty to come back to. Expect a full review in the coming weeks.
