In my opinion it's the best sonic handheld game. the levels are great, it fun and great for the road. It took about only 3-5 hours to beat, which lasted a plane ride. But it is fun to repeat the levels, and find the many bunus stages, which gives some replay value.

I like it, however even I am too lazy to take the time to beat it. But like you said, has good repeat value and is very fun. I think I may like the first one better however.
