Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End. That's the title, but in rather an excellent twist of irony you'll be wishing that the world had in fact ended by the time you get halfway through this. Wii developers need to stop thinking that mediocrity is acceptable, because it really, really isn't.
The game starts somewhat promisingly, with a passable in-game render of a large pirate ship. It's clear that the developers have managed to capture the atmosphere of the film, to some extent

The same cannot be said for the control system. The playable characters are moved around using the analogue stick, with motion controls used to fight. At first, it's fine

As well as being able to play as the inimitable Jack Sparrow, you can also play as Will ( Orlando Bloom ), Elizabeth, and some of the other characters from the film. Perhaps unsurprisingly, none of these alternatives offer any more than the feeling of stagnant mediocrity that Jack himself offers

Aside from the main game, there are some mini-games that you can play by collecting items and performing Jackanisms in the game. This would've been nice about 10 months ago, but sadly nearly every Wii game features some kind of mini-game these days, and as such it's simply not enough to account for the obscene drudgery of the rest of the game. Poker is always nice, however, even if it has a weird Pirate facade
    Gameplay

About as interesting as your grandparent's slideshow from that holiday they had in Bognor Regis. That's a bit harsh, actually
    Graphics

Functional, but drippingly, horribly average. Occasional dips in quality are irritating, but thankfully not too prevalent.
    Sound

    Nothing of particular note
    Value

    6

There's actually quite a lot to do, and the presence of unlockable minigames means that there's a fair bit to be getting on with, if you can be bothered.

C3 Score Pirates fails to be interesting or utterly, catastrophically bad, but there's one thing for sure

Superbly addictive and really does get better with time...Shame that barely anyone will actually buy it, like the marvellous Sabre Wulf and Banjo-Kazooie: GR!

It is very sad and it makes me so angry at all the Nintendo magazines and websites that are so biased against Rare - and at THQ for not promoting the games. They're among the best games available for GBA and so few people get to play them...

True, it's been released on mobiles and the Gizmondo as well, which kind of dilutes the possible GBA sales.

And Beam, some of the reviews I've seen mark this down as 'average - nowhere near Tetris standards'! I can't believe it  But then again the same reviews have been giving Banjo Pilot 5, 6 and 7s...

Found this hidden behind some other GBA games a while back, and then found Banjo Pilot. I swear everyone is against RARE at the moment. Definitely will be purchased when my GBA returns to be played. Or DS...

Yeah, I forgot that Banjo Pilot came out this Friday as well! THQ really has done bugger all to publicise Rare's games...Grunty's Revenge was the most popular, and that was only because stores discounted it so much as it wasn't selling!

    Hey guys,

Sorry for not posting this up sooner. I had begun to write this when I was called away so didn't have time to complete. For those who didn't know/missed it, a staff meeting took place on Saturday at 1pm (UK Time).

    We discussed:
  • The current state C3 is in.
  • What content is missing.
  • What could and can't be.

If GAME is listing it for that price then something is ridiculously wrong. This and Electroplankton are $20 in the US and should be
