Sorry to hear that mate. I don't let anyone use my stuff without full supervision from me. I know how careless kids can be nowadays..

I was there too... but it was too late once they dropped the console to the floor from inside the piece of furniture where it was... Happened as they were playing Mario Party 5 with wired Gamecube controllers, and one of them pulled on the cable.

The shock meant that now my Wii won't read ANY disc (the disc tray makes an unusal noise when attempting to read from discs, which says it all: it's damaged).

Now that wouldn't be too much trouble, since I mainly play from a HDD nowadays, but then a couple hours later, they pulled the console AGAIN, and now it's the HDD that's damaged, along with all the data that was on it, so I can't read my games from it either. I'm attempting to recover the partition on it right now (and will let my laptop do its magic all night long), and hopefully not all is lost.

Damn, that really sucks. Good luck with the recovery mate, hope your data isn't lost. My old Wii fell over before because of someone pulling a GameCube controller, a few months after the disk drive started acting up. People need to learn to be more careful, luckily since I've had my newer, black Wii, I've told people "DON'T pull on the wires."

...I guess that's one of the benefits for wireless controllers. No clumsiness.

Aww man - good luck Rudy! Hopefully at least the HD can be recovered - my Wii had  similar fate a few years back, I think one of my games had a little dirt on it, discs couldn't be read. Had to sent it to Nintendo be fixed up.

Meh, the recovery process gets stuck midway. I guess that's no luck. Well at least i can ask my mate who owns mostly the same games as me for his own HDD, so I can salvage some games from there, and kindly ask him to copy my discs back on another HDD using HIS disk drive, so not all his lost but that'll require some work :/...
