A thread for my fellow patient handheld gamers, those of us who waited and decided to get a European DS - at a surprisingly cheaper price than the importers here due to import tax.

Anyway in 8 hours I'll be off to town and in about 10 hours I'll be grabbing my very own DS.

Hype level = through the roof.

More so than any launch I can remember. I've even been dreaming about the little thing for most of the last week, maybe it's because this is the first system I've had the help of internet media arousing my interest/knowledge. (Expect piccy's from the Dundee launch if the rain isn't too bad)

So what's your current DS hype level if your getting one in the next 24 hours or so?

I'm coming to dundee tonight.

Maybe I'll swing by game.

Staff Member

I'll be there. Not sure what time exactly, depends if I get pissed or not, if so I'll be hiding in a mates having a few before going after the doors have opened, if not I'll be standing sodden and excited waiting for the doors to swing open at midnight.

The formers more likely though, weather forecast for Dundee at midnight = pissing it down Smilie

Might just see you there (somehow) though Smilie

Well, right now (I imagine I'll be looking the same later):

Hair over my face, and generally all over the place.
Green Shirt
brownish Hendrix T-shirt
Dark jeans ripped to fuck at the bottoms
Brown Etnies, yellow laces

I'm going to see a man about a dog though, and I'm not sure how long I'll be doing that for..

Cubed3 Member

Wow, that joke's getting old...

Staff Member

Going to see a man about a dog eh? Smilie

Right now I've got on:

dark jeans
Trainers.
Black jumper with stripes (NOT addidas :p)
And later I guess I'll have my leather on, going by the weather.

^ I'll probably look like 90% of the people there though, I'll keep an eye out for you - got a good mental image anyway. I could wear my Screamadelica t-shirt, if you've seen one before you'll know you could spot me a mile away Smilie

Wow, that joke's getting old...

The bad & old ones are the best.

i am sooooooooooo hyped abou the Nintendo DS i cant stand it my mums pickining it up at abot 9.00 from Game and im goin on it at dinner time which is at 1.00

I cant wait

Cubed3 Member

I can't wait, I'm very excited - although I'm doing my best to remain calm because although I've pre-ordered it I haven't left a deposit - and the dissapointment will be almost unbarable as it is if they turn me away. I can't make it to the midnight launch, sadly, it didn't work out - its a 50 minute walk away and I have no other form of transport, and I don't fancy carrying a DS through the streets at 1:00am, all alone. I'm pretty big and most people won't touch me but I don't want to risk it. I'm going to instead get up early tomorrow morning, and be waiting outside at 9:00am - I'll be missing lectures for this, I don't care.

That's the spirit beam.

You might want to check with Gamestation - I know GAME are opening at 08:00 allowing for people to grab the DS and get off to Work/Uni Smilie

I've over spent on games this week. No cash left, DS will have to wait.

Heres what I heard some guy say:

" I've got just enough for a DS, some games, and a pintSmilie"

You think I'll be *working* after I've got my DS?! Smilie Smilie

Nah, I've called Gamestation, they're opening at 9:00am - and by the time I get back it'll be 10:00am at least, and then I'll need a good half-hour to recover from walking for almost 2 hours. I think I'll forget doing any work tomorrow - make up for it this weekend.

Staff Member

Good point Smilie

The good thing is if you get there for 09:00 that should mean You'll get one. Enjoy it beam, and don't log on here at 01:00 Am or after - I'll be gloating about having mine.

I've uttered those words, and now with the extra

damn!!!

It looks like the DS is really wanted over there in europe. Over here in the states, the night it came out, me and several of my mates went to get ours only to be disssapointed by the fact that they were sold out.

But we have ours now and we're happy.

Good luck to everybody in getting their DS's.

Cubed3 Member

I leave for work at 7!

Wait I already have a DS Smilie

Cubed3 Member

If only my DS will come in from the chimney...
Not sure how I'm going to get my DS buthopefully I can go to GAME this weekend.

You found the word nipple! And you love touching them!

Are you strapped for cash, if not if I were you I'd get it quickly - I can see it selling out pretty fast. Smilie

I really can't understand why people are so excited when there are no killer apps at launch or in the forseeable future. After playing a DS for a fair time yesterday I have to say I'm a bit dissapointed. I'm not trying to piss on anyone's bonfire here, or be anti-Nintendo, but I do feel slightly let down, my expectations of it were higher. Maybe I'll change my mind when some games that really demonstrate what it's capable of come out.

Cubed3 Member

chris, at the moment, they are excited because they'll be able to play some good innovative games like SM64 or WWT.

I was sure excited the day it came out here and i'm sure you'll change your mind when some killer games come out.

Cubed3 Member

If only a new Mario or Zelda game was a launch title... I remember going for the GC midnight launch and loving Super Money Ball. That was a great launch game.
