The PSP is driving me crazy... I'm really considering buying one and the only thing holding me back is the price... Well I noticed today that the Stanford, KY Wal-Mart has plenty in stock and apparently you don't have to buy it in a value pack.

Are any other people going as crazy as I? I mean the NDS is great and all, but there won't be any new (good) games for months here in the US. I'm thinking of heading back to town and picking one up...

there's so many other topics about the PSP. Why not post your opinion on them?

Cubed3 Member

I doubt there are topics about the PSP driving them crazy.... also, I asked a question, and I didn't give an opinion.

Well the price is a major concideration, but if you want one that bad then go out and get one!

I just completed pokemon yellow! 151 pokemon seen and caught.
Surely that's worth a star?

This should really go in one of the Gaming Columns but hey, get a PSP, be different Smilie

Hello!

I wont get it simply because I refuse to pay that much.

Danny, I seriously wouldn't waste your money mate, and before Chris the defender of all that's not Nintendo jumps in (and posts another absurd comment) it's a very logical suggestion for me to make.

What can the PSP seriously offer you? You are obviously lacking "new" games, and looking at the PSP there's a few of them. But when you realise most of the games it has are actually very weak versions of a console game, and let's be honest the PSP isn't even a "portable" console really so what the hell is the point in spending $250 on a console that can only push a few hundred thousand polys, has a pretty crap performance level (i.e. bad battery) and really weak multimedia performance?

My advice if you've not got a PS2/two get one instead, you'll get most of the games on the PSP but they'll have a hugely better performance. You'll get a proper multimedia machine, that is it plays normal CD's and DVD's. Basically get a machine that is half the price and 100 times better.

Hope that helps Smilie

I'm in exactly the same boat Danny. I've got the cash to spare, but there's so much else I want.

It just looks so Schexey.

But of course, I do agree with '10. I'm gunna hold out. I'm not gunna buy a PS2 (Smilie) I'm just gunna improve my Dreamcast collection.

Anyone got any suggestions?

Cubed3 Member

Well, Nin10do, blizzard... I bought one. I only bought the PSP though to see if I liked it and not any games.

The thing is sooo FREAKING cool! I think I'll keep it...

I just finished watching SpiderMan 2 (included with the kit), and it was pretty cool! Tomorrow, I think I'll pick up Twisted Metal.

I simply love it!

Now here's what I don't like about it:

- It's wi-fi doesn't support WPA encryption, only WEP. If you don't know anything about wifi encryption, WPA is easier to deal with and more secure.
- The shoulder buttons are waaaay to easy to accidently press. This especially sucks during movie playback as the shoulder buttons can send you to the next or previous chapter.
- The AC adapter is freakin' huge! It comes with a nice thick cable and the big brick of a AC adapter to plug the cable into. Why couldn't they have one similar to the Nintendo DS's?
- No included USB cable. I had to use the one that came with Mom's camera.

So am I happy with this purchase? As of right now, 12AM, Wednesday March 30, 2005, yes I am.

Though tomorrow I'll probably get buyer's remorse. Maybe...

I kept my friends one overnight, and I have decided full hartedly not to get one.

Once the 'cool' factor wears off, you realise that all you've got is an empty, cool, boring old PS2.

Cubed3 Member

People say it's like a portable PS2, but there's no way. It's more like a Dreamcast. An hour later and I still like it. Smilie I just need a game to play!!! I almost want to go to Wal-Mart at 1AM to get Twisted Metal, but I'm not that crazy.

The PSP is too rich for my tastes, I'd recommend purchasing only if you are sure that the games are going to be worth it... other than that, it is your money...

Cubed3 Member

Yeah, well, I'm happy with my (anti-PSP) descision.

Just wait till tomorrow dannymac.

I do hope you bought somewhere where you can get full cash-back?

Cubed3 Member

Well the PSP does sometimes tempt me will its good looks and powerful capabilites, but like people say don't judge a book by its cover which is the case here. Sure i would like to get a PSP but thats only because it looks cool and is powerful. But when i think hard about all the games that don't appeal to me and how i'll need to buy a more better memory stick and the games cost more then the DS's, etc etc, i know that i'll never get one and i usually don't have that much money to spend around.

Where as the DS, cheap and fun. Nintendo better bring those good games sooner!!!!

Cubed3 Member

I wish I'd gotten here sooner. You made a big mistake IMO.

Hey, we shouldn't put the guy down for being adventurous. Even if it was a mistake Smilie

Cubed3 Member

LOL.... ahh I love you guys. Smilie For some reason I woke up early... I think i'll hit that o'l dusty trail to Wal-Mart to get Twisted Metal.

im interested in the PSP for its multimedia functions, but to be honest, if I think about it, if I'm going travelling, I might as well take my laptop, which can do much more, and atm the most memory you can get on there is 1GB, though sony is bringing out a 2GB memory stick duo pro, but they are going to be damned expensive. The games themselves; well a few interest me, but again too expensive. Why are the games more expensive than DS games when the media must be less expensive to produce?

Cubed3 Member

Becuase Sony need all the money they can get to make a profit on the PSP? (perhaps it has something to do with the increase in graphics as well?)

Cubed3 Member

indeed I imagine thats why, but I'm saying that disc media should cost less.

ModeratorStaff Member

Yeah discs are cheaper, and most of the games are watered down ports. PSP games should be cheaper.

If you want a psp you must work harder for it. Unlike the DS

You found the word nipple! And you love touching them!
