Something that most people on here would object to, but i dont trust ebay full stop. I wouldnt buy shit on there, for lack of trust of the people sending me the goods.

Yeah, they'll have been imported from hong kong tho...

Yea...Those look pretty generic, it's up to you if you wanna throw that much money into something with no warrenty whatsoever.

Just wait till Christmas 2006 there will be cheap MP4/MP3 players by then.

I really don't like the looks of that auction.

Hard Disk + Built in Rechargeable Battery + High price = very expensive Disposable piece of electronics

Paying

I think I will scrap the whole idea of purchasing on Ebay. I have never bought anything off there before, and it won't be too good to spend

well it doesnt give many of the technical details about the player but id say that it looks nice, and its also got a radio which is cool.
Its a shame that it has to convert files into the appropriate type of file but it can play the most common audio files straight.
If you intend to watch plenty of video clips 1GB might not be enough (you could probably only fit about one full film on it).
2 year warrenty is good though.
It doesnt give information about what type of memory it uses though which could pose problems if you want to get larger memory cards for it (if it even uses cards).
But for

I wouldn't buy a 1GB player, that's something pathetic like 250 songs isn't it?
Of course, for just over

Its not for music, its for films. I reckon I could store 2-3 films on it. For a long journey that should be good enough.
How do you get films onto media player?. I place the DVD in the drive and it plays but I can't see any option for storing it on Media Player.

You need special software to rip DVDs. I recently downloaded a program that lets you rip Dvds, not sure if it's legal or not (99% sure it isn't though :p), but if you want to give it a go, I think it's called 'PQ DVD to iPod video converter'. Although it has nothing to do with iPods really, just lets you rip DVDs...

Whats with the EBay bitching? It's all about shopping smartly. I buy tons of stuff off eBay. I have 1 problem with one of my MP3 players but the guy sorted it out straight away. Feedback scores are there for a reason. I never buy without searching through a persons selling history.

Well, when you have never used it you can never be too sure.
It is just the whole Paypal thing. I have never really understood what it is. Puts me off.
I have seen this 30GB Multimedia centre for $199 which equates roughly to

3 films on a gig? no way...

They'd have to be such shit quality. Even my south park movie which is rather poor is almost a gig

Well to be fair, if he only planned to watch them on the media player he could convert to the correct format and drop the resolution like a bitch.

Yeah. I thought you could store a few films on a gig with shite quality. To be honest if I can watch it, it is fine.

You could push 2 films onto a gig and that would be pretty shit anyway.
I really don't think MP4 players will kick off like mp3 players because people can listen to music at more convienient times. E.g im listening to music right now, but i wouldnt be able to watch a video and type this....(as effectively)
I will still buy one though
Well MP3 is an audio file, i think WAV is audio aswell. JPEG is images but im not sure what ASF is. I think it is capable of playing video as im sure i have a few ASF files. I prefer my video file formats to be in AVI though. I really do think that videos can be stored in ASF files though. However i dont want to go on record saying that coz some one will bitch about me being wrong.

Yeah but you can buy new things off ebay, not everything is used, theres even shops on ebay.

you guys are wrong about storage; screen size means you can drop resolution, so files are a lot smaller. I have a 1GB card for my psp and routinley carry three or four movies at a time, and they look pretty good, and the screen on the psp is way higher res than that thing probably will be, so you could go even lower.
But you need to know about converting files etc to do it.

on my computer i have ripped a full episode of "a touch of frost" in MPEG format (resolution 560x560 (quite small btw))(101 minutes long) and it still takes up 0.98 GB, only when i converted it so it could play on my shit quality GBA movie player (you know what im talking about monkey man) did it take up about 350MB.

Yeah GBA movie player really shitly converts the file. Its still a good contraption for the price. The reason i said i wont use a MP4 player that much is that ive barely used the GBA Movie player, despite my large libary of vids.

Got my iPod video today. Amazing video quality, a four minute music video with extremely high quality and CD quality sound takes up 18 - 22MB.
Worth the every penny I bought it for.
