Ah well, we'll probably get a new Sonic Advance or Sonic Rush at E3.

You know Sonic Team have no involvement in this. In fact it's not even SEGA that are developing this one (they are just publishing it). According to Gamespot it's the team that did Death Jr for PSP and Age of Empires for DS.

Mellowness must prevail. I've heard so much about Sonic. I've really tried to get in to Sonic games, but I just can't.

I know it's not made by SEGA, it just looks good & sounds good from the first info, I'm gonna try & play it at least once!

It's just like Sonic R being made by Traveller's Tales and Sonic Advance/Rush being made by DIMPS.

To be honest, I prefer it when Sega make their own Sonic games...

I'd be lying if I said Sonic games weren't on the decline, I still like them, they just aren't as good, I really wonder why?! They used to be so brilliant at Sonic games!

By the way, it seems that SEGA are sticking to the "R" trend for all their racing games. Or maybe they just like it? Is it merely coincidencial that "Rush" ALSO begins with an R?

Come on people, there IS discussion value here apart from the fact that it'll be shit like every other Sonic game since Sonic 2.

I like sonic but, i hate like all the new characters like shadow and the rest of them, i also hate the fact they called robotnick, eggman now and i also dont really like all these new Sonic games which are 3D, i say bring back robotnik, bring back the legendary duo scratch and grounder and make the Sonic games 2D or maybe 3D models and 2D back ground like Sonic rush.

You realise that Eggman was ALWAYS called Eggman in Japan, & he is still called "Robotnik" in games sometimes, such as his Extreme Gear company in Sonic Riders, or his world domination campaign in Sonic Adventure 2.

Also, Scratch & Grounder weren't made by Sonic Team, they were created only for a licsenced TV show & a game that wasn't made in house.

However I do understand that creating a new character for every game is frustrating, which is why I found THIS kinda frustrating... yet another hedgehog, who is white, & not only that, it looks like Shadow (EVERYONE has had enough of him now) has a main role in the next biggest Sonic game.

There is a load of new info on SONIC The Hedgehog 2006, as well as finding out about 2 new characters (one being a damsel in distress, the other being a white hedgehog) there is also info on the levels, the return of Adventure Fields, new action stage stuff, & new screens, it's loking sweet, the graphics for the game are as good, if not better than the FMV cutscenes we had in Sonic Heroes.

Another thing, from that E3 promo art of Sonic 2k6, we find out that the game is indeed getting a PC release, so those who don't want to get it on PS3 or 360, you could get it on PC. I'm still wondering if a Wii version will be announced at E3 this year. Anywhoo, sweet looking, both games have great visuals, excluding Shadow The Hedgehog, that's one thing Sonic Team are pretty good at; graphics.

I will get a 360 if this doesn't get a Wii release... so my Sonic Rampage continues!!

I've seen the interview before, but some of those screens were new to me.

Anyway, as they say, the 4th character is new, so it isn't Tails, or Fang, or Metal Sonic. oh well... It's probably this new Sonic character, but you never know, it isn't really made in house, so they might not be allowed to use the White Hedgehog

15 minutes of gameplay footage from E3 of the new Sonic the Hedgehog title!

Some plot details:

The 'white' hedgehog is infact Silver, (as thats his name)
He is slower than Sonic but has telekentic abilities
He comes from the future to stop Sonic (but we don't know why yet)

The version this guy was playing seems a bit buggy (but that could just be his dodgey playing!), if not hopefully they'll sort those issues out.

Either way it looks BRILLIANT, really wish I had a system that could play it, ah well.

Gonna have a rummage for some other hands on impressions (as that movie seems to repeat the Sonic footage during the Silver section but keep the sound? Or maybe it's just my computer.) So I missed a bit of whats on offer..

www.sonicstadium.org Tons of content there, playtests of both Sonic Rivals & Sonic 2006, also according to the E3 promo art, the game may be getting a release on the PC, but with the graphical level, you'll need a bloody good PC!!

Silver The Hedgehog (the white guy, who people thought was Light Blue at first, me being one of them) comes from the future to stop Sonic becoming/getting/doing the "Iblis Trigger" or something, so Sonic will cross paths with him sometimes... Silver is also playable, & from the looks of some footage, Shadow is playable too, & he rides cars... & blows up stuff... AGAIN, it's alright one time (for ME, & that's saying something) I only beg that they don't give him guns again...

Princess Elise looks like an escapee from Final Fantasy XIII, very wierd looking, & not Sonic like at all, & Eggman looks a lot more human, sort of wierd.

I'm still upset that this isn't coming out for the Wii, but I plan to get a 360 to play what might be a jewel of a game, I like Sonic Adventure DX, so I'm sure I'll love this, Wild Fire is hyping jme up for Sonic on Wii though, so... Woo!

360 for me this XMAS.

THE RETURN OF ADVENTURE FIELDS!!(There would be about a million more !s but that would annoy people) HURRAH!

Thing is from what I've seen the game still has lods of the flaws Heroes and Shadow had... That new hedgehog's levels just look weird too. Really slow, and with terrible-looking psychic powers... Oh and Shadow gets more guns. And cars. CARS FOR FUCK'S SAKE!!! What the hell Sonic Team? Go and die... Yuji Naka has left you. You're doomed. Admit it!

It's really not a big deal about Yuji Naka leaving Sonic Team... Sonic has improved recently... I mean the guy who made Sonic Rush is working on this & Sonic Wild Fire, Sonic WF is shaping up to be impressive, VERY impressive, the graphics are sweeter every time I see them, & the backgrounds are immense.

It is stupid that they have given Shadow cars again, considering Sonic '06 is coming out in 2006, would they have enough time to change that if the fans hated it? (which they do)

Adventure fields look sweet in this though, there is a lot of space to run around, & the loading times are unlikely to be as big as they are on Sonic Adventure anyway, consiering the 360/PS3's horsepower...

A point has been brought up on another Sonic forum, from the looks of the Wii so far, the difference between the Wii & the 360 really isn't THAT huge, the Wii may be able to handle Sonic '06, just toned down a little, but they probably won't release it on Wii because it would cost extra to downgrade it, & the Wii has Sonic Wild Fire, if Sonic Team ARE planning a port of Sonic '06 (which I stil doubt they are) then it won't be until after Sonic Wild Fire, they want us Nintendo fans to concentrate on Wilf Fire for now, & maybe port it along to the Wii in a few years...

I don't believe that, but it made me want to wait a little longer.

Then I saw some more footage of Sonic '06 on GameSpot, & I can't wait, I'm getting a 360 for XMAS!!

Silver's gameplay does look annoying, & slow, I hope they change it, make it faster & less boring... it does look boring, although I really like his character design!! XD

I laughed when I saw shadow in a car. I mean whats wrong with his legs? He's just a lazy bastard now

He really is, I used to really like him, I thought he was a cool character, but it's gone to far with the angst now, I thought he put his angst & his past behind him, so why is he stiull trying to be a rood boi & ruining what could be an awesome Sonic game!!

I hate Silver's design... He looks exactly like Shadow, but white... Infact alot of the characters are looking really similar now. Those ones from Sonic Riders just looked like Bark, Rouge/Amy and Robotnik...

It really pisses me off that they've tried to make Sonic 'Dark' now... When will people realise that when you try to make games dark they end up shit (Warrior Within, Shadow the Hedgehog... There are probably more that I've never heard of)

Anyway... So is Sonic Team actually working on either of the new 3D Sonic games... I'm getting kind of annoyed with all these outer developers... It's impossible to tell who's making what, and just when you think Nintendo or SEGA are making a game you find out it's actually... Sony and they're just publishing it...

(And yes I do realise that was stupid because Sony are too lazy to make any games... Oh well)

Just decided to watch that Gametrailers footage in it's 400MB entirity... My god those load times are abysmal. Whoever invented load times should die...

It's still got a long way to go before it's completed, I personally like Silver's design, it's the best design for a character in ages, & it's pretty original... I mean, Shadow has spikes EXACTLY like Super Sonic, & Super Shadow looks no different... But this Hedgehog has a different style of spikes + Yellow eyes So personally I like his design, although the whole White + Black Hedgehog thing is kinda OTT.. they really don't need it.

So yeah. The game still has ways to go, I didn't really see any big loading time myself, but I'm sure it'll be worth it, I mean, they were annoying on Sonic Adventure (DC) are they better than that? Or slower? Which I highly doubt, this is next gen, so I expect there will be a little improvement...

Yep, it pisses me off also, that Sonic is being made to look mature, & so many people hate that, while I love the looks of this game, I can't help but feel that SEGA have gone out of their way to make Sonic more mature, seen the princess? & Eggman? They both look SO DIFFERENT from normal Sonic style, so good thing Wii fans get Sonic Wild Fire, as I can tell that not many people will like this game... as usual.

I for one though, can't wait, there is a CoOp adventure mode, which sounds awesome, & a 4 player multiplayer, hopefully that means more playable characters, & maybe even Tails, so I hope Tails gets his time to shine, he really deserves it.

Shadow is really starting to piss me off, he used to me my fave Sonic character, but I'm having second thought, now he just gets in the way & butts in to EVERY Sonic game as a main character, with all his angst... Give Tails some fucking respect SEGA! He made Sonic famous too!!

I don't think the game will be on the Wii. It would have to be toned down a lot and I'm not sure how well it would go down on the Wii anyway. If Sega forced the remote and nunchuk on the game it just wouldn't feel right and if they used the Gamecube pad or VC pad, Wii owners might not feel that inclined to buy the game at all, considering it would probably then just be a slightly better looking version of Sonic Adventure.

Anyway, I'm getting the game on the X360 and looking forward to it. I've watched a lot of the videos and I don't have a problem with the more realistic look they have given Sonic, I think it fits more with the visuals they've decided to use which look drop dead gorgeous.

The new characters are annoying, as per usual and the sight of Shadow in a car again makes me want to barf. Hopefully they'll spend a lot more time making the separate experiences each character will offer, fun. In that respect, it's a good indication that they've slowed down the stages for Silver quite a bit

The Phychic bits look cool at times, but I'm kinda put off by Silver being so slow, & I'm even more put off by seeing Shadow (not Tails, Amy or Knuckles, Shadow) in a Car again, blowing stuff up.

I too don't think the game will be on the Wii, but I think it's only because of fairness, as the Wii is certainly capable of these graphics (or at least near them) Have you seen the newer Sonic Wild Fire footage? It looks almost as good as Sonic '06, also, you might not remember/know that most 3rd party developers have been making the demos & footage that we saw, with Dolphin Dev Kits, as the final Revolution Dev Kits havn't gone out to everyone yet, so I'm expecting the final Wii to look even better, along the quality of Mario Galaxy

EDIT: So I don't think that's why, as I said, I think it's fairness. But as some people have said, they may whore it over to the Wii in a few years.

I really can't wait, more & more I hear about the game, I'm getting so exited!!

I loved the first Sonic games cos they were so simple. D-pad and a single button was all you needed, but it was fantastic. Mario always frustrated me 'cause I was used to the relaxation of burning along as Sonic and trying to do the same in Mario Bros 3 inevitably led to running into some bastard Goomba.

Wii-Sonic is interesting 'cause it looks like a step back to that idea of simplicity in the originals, before they littered the sequels with characters that look like reject prototypes of the blue 'hog himself. Not sure about the delayed jumping thing. Did I hear someone say it was going to be a 're-telling' of the original MD game? Don't think that's true anymore, but it'd be awesome to see SEGA's 3D interpretation of all those classic levels (and hear Nakamura's tunes again!)

Also, a quick off-topic-ish question. Can anyone tell me why they decided to change Sonic's sprite for Sonic 3 on the MD? He looked the same in the beta, then they made him look permanently pissed-off!

People thought that SONIC 2006 was a retelling because of the game's title, & also many things have been said by SEGA, such as "Sonic is starting anew" & "It's Sonic's first adventure in the human world" So I still don't get where it will be in the continuity, many people thought that it would retell the Sonic series from after Sonic 3D, making it seem like Sonic Aventure - Sonic Riders never happened, as people seemed to hate those games, so they wanted to act as if it never happened. Although I don't believe this, I think it's all just different ways of saying that Sonic is back in a proper Sonic game.

Seriously though... Shadow died... Stop bringing him back into Sonic games. I actually thought he was really cool... Until Shadow the Hedgehog... Now I just wish he'd die. They need to kill him off again
