Fair enough mate, but just keep in mind that in the VAST majority of the world, it is just short for Japanese and so not everyone will know that in the US it was adapted briefly for referring to the enemy in a war.

as some of the members and mods on this forum are humourless bores who'll make a massive deal of anything that refers to a particular nationality in the context of humour...

because to me, it's not even funny. the word jap was created to demean, hate, and put down a group of people during world war II when it wasn't even their fault. People were called jap, they were taken away from their homes, put in internment camps while all of america jeered at them. And they didn't do anything. I hope you get the idea. Whoever wrote that, you're a funny guy. But honestly, jokes like that are just sick. maybe if you look at this not as an opportunity for me to complain, and an opportunity for you to learn and appreciate something, you might realize that this is actually kind of serious. Is it wrong for me to get upset? I don't think so. How about getting mad at me or saying something sarcastic like
